Stayed at Site 3 and the campground was very roomy with 2 picnic tables. Didn't do any hiking at Alturas Lake, but hiked at Pettit Lake and this was a short 20 minute drive away. Bathrooms and sites were clean. Plenty of room for decent sized dome tent, but could be tough to find place for a massive tent.

Tammy was amazing at helping us get unreserved, first come first served spots after our initial reservation. we eventually left on Aug 13. She was great. The campground and bathroom facilities were very clean.

Great family friendly beach, clean campsites within close proximity to bathrooms and sink washout. Friendly camp host and guests. We had a wonderful time.

Great place just wished the Sun Valley people werent so rude at the beach. They acted like it belonged to them. USFS needs to patrol the beach area and make sure everyone and their dogs are complying. Tammy the host cant do everything you need more help for the lake and beach.

The campground was built on wetlands! Depending on the time of year and site, be prepared for some water in the site.

Great location right on the lake. A few spots are a bit tight for a 30 foot trailer. The bathrooms were super clean. As the weekend approached most sites filled up but the sites are spaced out enough where you dont see your neighbor.

We stayed at the Alturas Lake Inlet Campground the week after Labor Day. The campground was very quiet and the sites spaced far enough apart that we had ample privacy. The lake was beautiful (we took our canoe). The Host was very friendly and helpful. It was an excellent stay!

Awesome campsite. Tammy the host was super nice as well. Even though it was packed crowded with people and kids, I had a pretty private site. Mosquitoes were ruthless!

Pretty lake with a nice swimming beach. Sites were nicely spaced. Quite a few mosquitoes when we were there in mid-July. Our site did not have any decent tent pads, (perhaps it was meant for an RV?) we heard that there was a tent loop under renovation. We were charged an additional fee for a second car even though it it on our site’s parking pad which made this campground rather expensive (a price I’d generally assume came with flush toilets and showers.) Picnic table and fire pit were awkwardly tall and in need of updating. No recycling amenities.

The camp host was great. This campground had the best vault toilets I've ever used.

Camp host Tammy was fabulous! She was attentive and responsive and worked hard to keep the campground running smoothly. The one complaint we had was the condition of the road. There were so many potholes all throughout the entire loop road and they were deep.

The campground was beautiful and the camp host kept all of the facilities nice and clean.

Beautiful spot! Loved that it was fairly spread out and within walking distance to the lake.

Beautiful scenery all around. Easy walk to Alturas Lake. Good hiking trails close by. Campsites are large and spaced out. Short drive to Stanley. Would highly recommend.

Great campground host. Nice level spot but campsite 27 was impossible to back-into without going the wrong way. campground host had to hold up traffic to get in and out
@PatriciaK11756 · Camped on Jul 19, 2022 at Campsite #11
The lake was beautiful and clear. Wildflowers were lovely. The best thing: it was not too crowded. Our only complaint: too many mosquitos! Also, the lake was VERY cold. So, our swimming was at a minimum, but that is due to our cold, wet Spring this year, I'm sure. We had a great, peaceful time at Alturas Lake.

The camp host lady was way too bossy. Always riding around commenting on every little thing, camp Sargent Made the whole experience unpleasant.
@DanielF1136472 · Camped on Jun 29, 2022 at Campsite #28
Great campsite and hosts. Right next to a nice beach. It was a little swampy due to recent rains but thats the only complaint. Clean toilets. Decent space between each site. Hiking trails close by

Great campground by the beach. Hosts were friendly. Bathrooms and sites were clean. Be aware of not booking a double site if you only need a single as the sites on Recreation.gov do not tell you what you are booking.

We were there early in the season and it was a wet spring. Some camp spots were wet. Ours was not. We had a lovely stay and enjoyed it immensely

Nice, clean campsite. Bathrooms were clean. Beautiful area, and the lake was lovely.

Great campsite! Going in early June meant that the cold meant there were little to no bugs. We had quiet and kind neighbors. The bathrooms were clean. The sites were level and in order. The host was very friendly and helpful. It didn’t get full 5 stars for only a few nit picky reasons. The fire pits have tall solid sides that don’t allow airflow into the fire. Also after the winter time the wood we purchased on site was either too cold or had enough moisture in it that only fanning the fire with a road sign we have in our camper could keep it lit. Starters and aids included it still took over an hour and the whole bundle to get some s'more's cooked. Finally it seems important that they should put in bear boxes for food storage. We didn’t see bears but there were signs and just recently they confirmed the presence of a grizzly north of Stanley recently. We secured our food but it’d be helpful to have.

Overall our experience at Alturas Lake Inlet has been great. Unfortunately, we had to evacuate because of a wildfire, however we were able to go to another campground. The campground hosts, Linda and Larry, did a very good job keeping the campground in order and efficiently checking campers in. Since this was their last year, we hope you can replace them with someone who will continue their high standards.

@BranJen - Santa Clara, CA

I wanted to thank you for this site and especially for the notifications feature. Thanks to your site and my subscription I was able to book a campsite I've been annoyingly trying to book for 5 years unsuccessfully. So thank you.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
