The camp site was fine but we had a couple problems. The first was strangers driving into the property we rented out so we kicked them out, and the other was that we had no running water so we couldnt shower and the toilets wouldnt flush.

The amenities at this horse camp are fantastic, hot showers and potable water! We were the only ones there the entire time we stayed, so it was rather quiet. Unfortunately none of the garbage or manure bins had been emptied in...weeks or months, and they were all full of manure and garbage. The sites are nice, but vegetation has grown in and will scrap the sides of your truck and camper even if you are very careful. Lastly, there really aren't that many riding options from camp. Cactus springs is very technical and I had to turn around. Sawmill is just an out and back on an old road and is super blown out and rocky. The ribbonwood trail was nice, but really more made for mountain biking it seems. Overall it was a decent experience but the camp needs maintenance, tree trimming, garbage removal etc and the trail selection for horses isn't extensive.

Need to post trail maps. Luckily we ran into a local that told us were the waterfall was.

The bushes need to be cut back. They bent 2 people's fenders on the horses trailers trying to get into a space and driving the circle to get out. The big green trash cans were full. The ranger super nice.

Great trip! Great riding! Take the trail to the left! Make a left when you get to the huge rock that will be difficult to go over on your horse. Follow it up the hill to the road and circle back around to the campground.😀 it’s about 2 miles.

Love this campground! There was no one here the whole time. Stars are amazing at night. Only thing is if you have a larger rig it’s kind of tight pulling in. We have 38’ RV plus horse trailer and managed to get in but it was real tight. But the riding here is awesome!! Love love love this place and we will be back!

There was nobody else there. A great getaway from the hot overpopulated mess that is Palm Springs. Such a varied landscape with potentially snowy mountains above and dry desert below. I ran from our tent down the Pinion Flat trail, up the Palm Canyon trail, and back along the dirt roads to this little MTB trail that goes under the 74 and ends up right back at campsite 3. About a 9-mile loop. I also didn't see a single human on that entire route. This was May 8, 2021.

Road is pretty rough, lots of large potholes. Corrals all looked in great shape and water was working. Its an easy drive off the highway, and a nice place to camp even if you don't have a horse with you...

It was very peaceful, we were the only ones there (mid February). There isn't much to do, but it was great for a quiet night away. While dogs are allowed, I do not recommend bringing them at there are TONS of cactus spurs and stickers near the sites - I had to pull 3 off my pup in the first 10 minutes :( Very limited AT&T/T-Mobile service, Verizon has great reception here.

@BranJen - Santa Clara, CA

I wanted to thank you for this site and especially for the notifications feature. Thanks to your site and my subscription I was able to book a campsite I've been annoyingly trying to book for 5 years unsuccessfully. So thank you.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
