The view from the cabin was beautiful and I was pleased to find hiking trails nearby. The cabin was clean and well stocked and the occasional deer visited. In case anyone else is "lock challenged", the trick is to push down on silver loop toward brass base to release.

The cabin is very well equipped with propane fridge, stove, lights and heat. There are neighboring homes in site but you can still enjoy the peace and quiet of a getaway in the woods here. Bring tick spray for summer hikes. There is plenty of wood in the area for camp fires. Pack an ax and saw. Great access to hiking, mountain biking and jeep trails.

Fantastic little cabin with all the amenities you could want for a rustic getaway. Fishing didnt work out for us; we didnt see any fish at all and the beaver ponds that used to be below the cabin are washed away. I would think the fishing used to be great, but alas, not this time. Clean and comfortable, more so than expected! Quiet, very quiet, with no one seen or heard besides us. Views of the mountain up the valley are spectacular. Definitely going to try to come back.

Clean, comfortable, and well-maintained. Having a sink to use was great. There are 3 houses within sight in the distance, but otherwise the cabin is private and secluded with nice views. The creek was low and the fish in it too small to bother, but we went up to Mosquito Lake and caught a rainbow trout (there were no mosquitos OR people at the lake). The previous reviews about the water pump aren't kidding. The first time I used it I enjoyed the workout. The second time wasn't fun anymore. The third time took 30 pumps just to get the water started and I gave up before our jug was full. If you are not fit and full of energy, you might consider bringing your own water.

The new water pump is hard to use so the experience at the cabin is more difficult than it was in the past.

Really great cabin layout. Interesting area history with all the mines. The pitcher pump required some effort, but the water arrived and was pure.

Very quiet. It's nothing fancy, but just what I was looking for to unplug for a few days.

Beautiful and quiet. Warm cabin, comfy mattress, great hiking and easy access. Arrival did have some issues; gate combination worked fine. The cabin door combination did not work. Had to drive 30 miles to Saguache Ranger District office and get emergency contact number for guidance. District Ranger Richard responded almost immediately after receiving my message that we could not get into the cabin. Richard went above and beyond and contacted the District Supervisor who authorized Richard to provide us the master lock key. No easy feat as it was a three day holiday weekend. Returning back to the cabin after dark (8pm) the key worked just fine. Except for the 60 mile roundtrip inconvenience and arrival in the dark, we had a wonderful experience. Richard is to be applauded for his stellar attention to helping us on a Friday evening after hours. We used candles and lanterns rather than using the propane wall mounted lights. The propane stove and wall heater were great; just remember to crack open two windows. Highly recommend this cabin and will return again!

Nice cabin, very rustic. Pit toilet was clean and smelled better than most; it's well ventilated. Location and drive is awesome, but does get kinda cold that high up in early November. View on the drive in is awesome. Easy to find on well maintained, county dirt roads. Last little bit is a two track but most passenger cars ought to be able to make it.

enjoyed the atv trails around Bonanza and Flagstaff. Do miss the beavers in the ponds but i guess they were killing the trees in the neighborhood. The remodel of the cabin is great. Will be using again this summer if we can. Thanks, Jay Seavy

I wanted to thank you for this site and especially for the notifications feature. Thanks to your site and my subscription I was able to book a campsite I've been annoyingly trying to book for 5 years unsuccessfully. So thank you.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
