These were the best campground showers I've ever encountered. Spacious separate rooms with benches inside and outside the shower room. Regular height spray and handheld wand for those needing to sit. Plenty of hot water and free to use. Baylah, front, and Eli explore a path on Mount Joseph, located west of the campground. A grassy area for dogs to exercise unleashed extends from this sign to past the fish cleaning station, upper right. Wallowa Lake is 30 yards or so to the right.A nice amphitheater is located in the campground park near the south end of Wallowa Lake.A nine-hole disc golf course is located just east of the campground, near the south end of Wallowa Lake.Boating is a popular recreational activity on Wallowa Lake.Swimming areas are located on the north and south ends of Wallowa Lake. The campground is just south of the lake's south end.The fish cleaning station is located 30 yards or so from the south end of Wallowa Lake. It was spotlessly clean and contained an electric disposal.Three ramadas, or what we call gazebos, are located in a grassy park east of the campground. The amphitheater is in the same area.A sewer connection is available at every RV campsite, but because the campground is old, the park asks that people refrain from dumping large loads. A free dump station near the campground entrance is available for those loads.The marina at Wallowa Lake is located at the southwest shore.The ranger station at Wallowa Lake State Park also serves as the registration booth for campers. It also contains a charging station for wheelchairs, a rare campground amenity.Between the campground entrance and Wallowa Lake, an information tent provides pamphlets and info on a range of subjects.Restroom buildings are located throughout the campground. They also contain separate shower rooms with free, hot water.The Chief Joseph Nature Trail leads from the parking lot at Wallowa Lake.The pay station provides envelopes for campers who did not make reservations before arriving. The board provides a list of incoming campers and their assigned campsite and another listing of openings, if any.The shower rooms were the best I've ever seen. Inside the shower is a bench for those who might not be able to stand while they bathe.Wallowa Lake offers boat ramps on the south side of the water, on the north end of the campground.

We spent three nights at Wallowa Lake State Park and I don't think we could have found a much better campsite. Located next to the base of Chief Joseph Mountain, the campsite became shaded by mid-afternoon. That kept temperatures very pleasant. Our site had adequate space between neighboring campsites. Elsewhere in the campground, there were some sites that were very close together. There was a tree right behind the driveway. That caused us to angle our camper so we could move our rear slide out bed into position and still be able to park our tow rig in the driveway. All of the campground's sites meant for RVs and trailers come with electric, water and sewer hookups. A tag on the sewer cap said to empty your waste slowly since it's an old campground and the system wasn't made for high-volume waste tanks. We didn't have any problem. The campground also has a freestanding waste station that could also be utilized. A bathroom was located nearby and it had separate shower rooms with plenty of hot water. There's no extra charge to use the showers. They were some of the best campground showers I have seen. There was a bench and shelf with hooks to hang clothing on outside the shower itself. Inside was a bench for sit-down bathing, along with a separate hand-held shower wand along with a typical nozzle higher up. Wallowa Lake, located on the north side of the campground, is one of the prettiest locations in all of Oregon. It's stunning. The campground entrance station was staffed by rangers, who explained where your campsite was located and answered questions. The back of the station had a charging station for wheelchairs, the first time I had seen one of those. Being Oregon, the campground had its own trash compactor and an extensive recycling center. There was even a bin for disposable propane tanks. The town of Joseph is only eight miles away and has a grocery store, gas station and many souvenir shop and restaurants. We came during Chief Joseph Days (always the last weekend in July) and while the campground was full, it remained quiet. This is a gem of a campground and one I would recommend everyone experience. It contains Oregon beauty at its best.

I wanted to thank you for this site and especially for the notifications feature. Thanks to your site and my subscription I was able to book a campsite I've been annoyingly trying to book for 5 years unsuccessfully. So thank you.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado
