One of the closest campsites at 2 mi from Rainy Lake visitor center. Fun to have the whole little island to ourselves. There's a trail that goes back to the other side of the island. Great place to watch both sunset and sunrise. We actually had a tiny bit of cell coverage with T-mobile.

Recently stayed at the War club B17 camp site on the chain of lakes via the Locator lake trail. Beautiful and peaceful experience. If I was reserving this again, I would stay at the Locator lake camp site vice the others. I was solo and when the winds whip up it is very difficult to paddle against and, I think, dangerous. Additionally, the camp site that requires a portage is nearly inaccessible in my opinion. The connecting river was not viable on a canoe and the portage "trail" is very rough. It would have been very difficult for me to get my gear to the connecting lake. Finally, due to a frost warning there were absolutely no bugs (mosquitos or black flys) which made it very, very enjoyable. Fish are very active as I dont think this Lake gets fished too much with the remoteness and only 3 camp sites. Enjoy!

This site was great, tucked away and not really visible to passing boats. Dock was like new and very stable. Fishing was great. Early Sept and bugs were not an issue. Had a good lunch at Kettle Falls.

Fishing was great. Stayed on Sexton Island. Site was well maintained. Beautiful dock at the site. Ellsworth Rock Garden was kinda quirky but worth seeing. Early Sept and bugs were not an issue. It is dark at night. Really dark. But made great starlight and milky way pics.

The camping experience was wonderful Also the flexibility to change the location as well as the days is a very useful feature unlike the other national parks. I loved every bit of it and can't wait to be back!

Love this park. Fishing was hot n cold, but the camp sight was great and the weather cooperated nicely. Saw a lovely white tail buck with a basket rack. Heard swans and loons. Had eagles hanging around camp consistently. Great time with my son!

Amazing location in solitude!

This site is great for staying put and soaking up the solitude of Voyageurs NP- a few boats going by on their way to Kettle Falls, and many high rocks with good views of the surrounding area. If you have a watercraft, it's very close to the Ryan Lake trail to the east or the Anderson loop to the west. We were hoping for a little more ability to wander through the woods to these established trails, but the undergrowth was prohibitively dense. We love to hike and will stay at Anderson on our next visit!

Beautiful national Park and campsite. I was looking for a campsite that was easy to kayak to with my 7-yr old and this site was within 2 miles of the Rainy Lake visitor center. It was a very memorable trip, lots of beautiful surroundings and a very well maintained campsite.

Excellent level site. Very remote and quiet. No cell signal (Verizon). Easy docking.
@RyanR6662184 · Camped on Aug 29, 2024 at Campsite #PIW
Overall a great site that is clean with 2 food lockers that have plenty of space. Cell signal is VERY spotty so you could take that as a good or bad thing depending on your goals. When we were here on Labor Day weekend there were NO mosquitos which was amazing. Only thing to be aware of is if the wind is out of the east you will get strong waves into the back of your boat and into the cove. On the flip side, if the wind is out of any direction other than east, you get a very protected site with very low wind. We've stayed on 4 different islands with 2 adults and 4 kids and I would say this was our favorite out of all the sites we've been. You're only a few miles from Anderson Bay (great hiking and cliff jumping) and a few more miles from Kettle falls.

My group camped on Channel View island and it was such an amazing experience!! Highly recommend this for a camping trip. wish we went during a new moon but seeing a super full moon was able stunning! Loved the secluded yet safe feel of your own island. Rent a kayak!!

Campsite was nice, there was a nice breeze to keep the bugs at bay most of the time and the kids cought plenty of fish off shore. Its not too far from resorts if you need something, but not too close either. The only downfalls is that it's on the tour boat route so there's regular boat traffic and lots of blood suckers.

Very nice campsite

K30 is an excellent campsite. Well situated, clean, and good tree canopy. Dock needs to be a little longer as it was difficult to tie up an 18 fishing boat without pushing the bow against the rocky shore.

We spent the week of Aug 11-17 at the Lost Bay tent campsite. We loved being very close to the Ash River boat launch for our trips back and forth hauling our gear in our small fishing boat. We were so surprised that it was one of the most quiet sites we have camped at for our annual trips. We spent our days reading, swimming, water skiing, and pulling the grandkids in the tube. We were unaware of the water quality on Kabatogama Lake at Lost Bay, (with it being quite green.) as we are used to the clear water on Namaken Lake. We love and treasure Voyaguers Natl Park and We were very happy that the campsite was clean, but we always pick up all ground trash and leave it cleaner when we leave. Thank you park service and all volunteers who work to maintain and protect our beloved, beautiful park.

Been going here for years; the boat landings are well maintained and people are generally polite about taking turns. Campsite was in good shape, although latrine needed a dumping. We go for the quiet and opportunity to camp at a site that is more isolated; however, VOYAGEURS seems to be getting busier. We experienced houseboats daily setting up across the small bay although it is not a designated houseboat site. One group told us an outfitter recommended the site; not sure it meets the 200 yard minimum. A couple houseboat groups were loud party people.yelling, probably drinking, loud music. Also people fishing often came trolling right next to our dock. Asked one group very politely to not come so close as our dogs were getting stressed and we wanted privacy; (they were within 5 of the dock) his response was an angry we can fish wherever we want so I just walked away. VOYAGEURS is big and we realize that rangers cant patrol everywhere; but with bad characters, youre on your own out there; our cell phones had no service.

Campsite was very nice for our family. The only big issue is that the outdoor pivy was full. It was not fun using this at all. Other than that, the mosquitos were bad in the morning and for about an hour at dark. Quiet area and off the main boat channel!

Beware of a large rock not visible when approaching Ingersoll Cove campsite. We hit it coming in and found it while swimming. Its several feet across and about 18 inches below the water level as of 8/1. Once we knew it was there we could approach from the right hand side and miss it.

We hiked to backcountry site B5 at Cruise Lake. Reserving a water taxi was expensive, but we had an incredible 2 nights with no other people around once we were dropped off. Caught a lake trout, saw beavers and loons, and heard wolves. Milkyway sky at night. Bug head nets were helpful for the hike in and out. Enjoyed paddling the canoe each day. Be sure to reserve that as you will need the code for the lock.

We were at this site from 7/31 to 8/4. The boat landing area was a couple hundred yards from the campsite. The trail was cleared and easy to locate, however you have to cross uneven terrain to include exposed tree roots, angled rocks, one set of stairs and multiple hills. But once you get to the site the south facing views are phenomenal! As far as the Norther lights we were not able to see them because the woods to the north were to thick. The fire pit is on an angled slab of rock and it is hard to find a flat spot to put chairs. The tent pads are very nice and both give awesome south facing views of the lake. The vault toilet is not to far from the site and it was in a heavily wooded area for privacy. We were able to put two 48 quart coolers, a Coleman cook stove, 5 gallons of water in one locker and a tone of miscellaneous stuff. The only reason I took one star was the distance from the landing to the site was more than expected. The weather can change in an instant, so bring extra rope and tent stakes incase the wind picks up or a storm blows in. The fishing was great and the trip was on my bucket list for a long time. We will be going back to VNP!

@BranJen - Santa Clara, CA

I wanted to thank you for this site and especially for the notifications feature. Thanks to your site and my subscription I was able to book a campsite I've been annoyingly trying to book for 5 years unsuccessfully. So thank you.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
