Haverhill, located in northeastern Massachusetts, is a gateway to many outdoor activities. Bradford State Forest, just south of the city, offers quiet camping in wooded areas with trails for hiking. Harold Parker State Forest, a short drive away, features multiple campsites surrounded by ponds and nature trails. Merrimack River provides opportunities for water-based camping and outdoor fun. For more rugged camping, White Mountain National Forest is a bit further out but offers a variety of backcountry options. Haverhill's location near these natural spaces makes it a great starting point for outdoor adventures.

Barnes Field Campground is located in the Androscoggin Ranger District, White Mountain National Forest (1 hr 38 min west of Lewiston, ME) with an elevation of 1,286 feet. There are a total of 11 campsites including 4 tent-only sites. The campground is open all year. 7 sites can accommodate RVs and trailers up to 40 feet. All sites are currently reservable. Reservations can be booked up to 6 months in advance. Prices start at $45.00 per night. Activities include hiking trails.
