My biggest issue was the toilets at the group sites. The regular camp sites have flush toilets but the group sites have pit toilets. Although inside the restroom was clean they smelled like they hadnt been cleared out for many many months. We stayed at GS2 and GS1 was just below us. Each site had their own pit toilets but unfortunately as the wind blew up the hill towards our site we often got this horrible smell of their toilets. This was a huge downer because the time we wanted to spend at the camp site, we had to also smell shit wafting in the breeze. Thats why I only give my review a Good rating Instead of Excellent. Im happy we had a nice big Santa Maria grill, fire pit, plenty of tables (all in good shape), and drinkable water on site! That made me really happy because the website said to bring all your own drinking water. The attendants were super chill and friendly. Fire wood was expensive but I brought all my own wood. Neighbors were quiet and we couldnt really hear the other campers at the regular sites. There was poison oak everywhere as well so we had to keep a close eye out for dogs and children. No showers on site so be prepared if you want to rinse off. We brought a little portable shower head pump which worked just fine. Also the camp site had pretty much no flat ground so all of our tents were slammed downhill towards GS1. I think thats all hahah what a fun time we had going to Sand Dollar and grilling up together. Till next time or maybe not if they dont clean out those dang toilets.

Our host was 5 stars. The area is wonderful and very clean. The trash cans were emptied EVERY day and the toilets were cleaned daily too. There is lots to do in the area and the host was very helpful in supplying us with more things to do and places to visit. I would like to see the water turned on to the sinks in the bathrooms. Don't understand how you can have flush toilets, but no water in the sinks. A few longer sites would be nice. Also, the slope on the sites is a bit scarry. The front of our trailer required over 16" of blocks to get the trailer "almost" level.

We got group site 1 which was spacious, set back from the rest of the campground and even had a fancy grill to cook on in addition to the firepit. The campground hosts were nice and accommodating. I would definitely stay again.

Close and walkable to sand dollar beach. Site has clean water and restroom. Site host was friendly and plenty of trees and shade.

bathroom clean and spacious, good drinking water. Campground is very child and family friendly. We stayed here for 5 days and loved walking across the road to visit sand dollar beach for swimming and jade cove for rock hounding. We had a blast.

It was a nice place, but the restrooms and showers were not clean, guests shoot keep it clean by themselves but are to lazy to trow the trash in de cans. Also was there one family who made a lot of noice till 2 am.

Best camp hosts we've ever had in 30 years of camping here. So clean, welcoming and kind! Still wish there was running water in the bathrooms to wash hands, but everything else was great.

Plenty of space for a tent. Near bathroom so expect foot traffic going through the site.

Hosts were incredibly welcoming, genuine people and they work hard to make this campsite feel homey. I enjoyed my first stay here so much that I returned on my way south. The surrounding area is beautiful and with the closure just to the North, it's quieter this year than when I've come through previously. I enjoyed all the nearby trails and beaches. Hoping to visit again soon.

Everything was great, but since there was no cell phone reception, it would have been nice to have some boards showing hikes around the area.

Beautiful visit. We've loved coming here, but haven't visited in a while. The new campsite director is wonderful and had a whole stand of local are set up. Great location and friendly campers.

I recently stayed at this campground with my mom and niece, who were visiting from Central Asia, and they were absolutely amazed by how clean and well-organized everything was. Ive always loved this place, and if youre lucky enough to snag a spot here, youre in for a treat!I was thrilled to see Michael and Punky again on this trip. They went above and beyond during my last visit when I fell ill with a fever, taking care of me for days until I recovered. They even looked after my 7-year-old daughter, keeping her entertained and happy. I can't express enough gratitude for their incredible kindness and generosity. Every time I visit, I feel welcomedalmost like coming home. Michael and Punky are the heart and soul of this campground, making the long drive worth every mile. They maintain the grounds beautifully and always check in to ensure you have everything you need. Their love for children is evident in the way they treat them as if they were their own. I always look forward to coming back, thanks to them! Forever grateful to Michael and Punky and their sweet dogs and cats!

Very well maintained. Close to the beach. The beach is just walking distance.

Absolutely loved this campground. It's right across the highway from the ocean side, and from a few campsites in the campground you can actually see and hear the ocean through the trees. Decent size campground that is well kept with potable water and bathrooms (no running sink water). Lots of beautiful trees and some open area. Our campground had a campfire pit and also a separate standing grill you can use charcoal with. Our grounds keepers also provided firewood bundles for $15, and an optional fire starter for $5 that worked really well.Our grounds keepers were amazing and very attentive, informative, and so helpful. Shout out Michael and Punky, you guys made the trip for us. Very positive energy and availability to the campers. They recommended a couple spots for sight seeing and hiking, including Kirk Creek Trail which we hiked all the way up to the flats which was fantastic. Wish I could have stayed longer!

Great place to be with access to Sand Dollar Beach and bluffs trails. Good camping sites with trees and grass. Campground hosts were helpful and friendly. Bathrooms were clean.
@TraceyW392A1FA · Camped on Jun 23, 2024 at Campsite #12
Beautiful campground, with mature trees. Any complaints about bathroom cleanliness has more to do with fellow male campers (consistently not lifting seat to pee! ugh!) than cleaning routine by campground staff. Campground was probably more quiet than usual with the road closed north of the campground. Access to the beach was easy. we were there fairly early in the season, so trail maintenance was underway to clear back a LOT of poison oak. Beautiful beaches. Friendly and helpful camp hosts.

the host is very friendly. campsite is very close to a beach and a few trails. u may or may not (depending on the location of ur spot) have a very tiny view of the ocean from ur spot. none of the spots r completely flat. toilets were clean but 3 out of 8 toilets were closed (with no sign on them) and none of the toilets had water in the sink to wash ur hands.

Absolutely beautiful! The campground was the most quiet campground at night. I have never slept so good. The road getting to the campground is super twisty turny and steep which I didnt know going into it. But I will definitely go back

@BranJen - Santa Clara, CA

I wanted to thank you for this site and especially for the notifications feature. Thanks to your site and my subscription I was able to book a campsite I've been annoyingly trying to book for 5 years unsuccessfully. So thank you.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
