Better directions or signs are definitely needed. The basement spells moldy due to the water leak. We had to clean the cabin when we got there. There was no firewood but luckily we brought our own.

Be sure you have a GPS and plug in the coordinates for the guard station. we were lost for 3 hours before we found it. Great spot once we found it! Facility is remodeled very nice. Not far from river for fishing.

Overall the cabin was in fairly decent condition. Lots of snow to play in. Very fresh, very large mountain lion tracker were found just down the road from the cabin so be aware if you are in the area. Did find a leftover piece of pizza left on top of a microwave 🤮 but surprisingly no sign of mouse activity. A very rare experience at a Forest Service cabin, kinda comes with the territory! Thankfully we brought some extra blankets to throw over the furniture to cover the dirty spots. Both ovens had a lot of leftover oven cleaner left inside them from the last time they were cleaned. We clean out one before using it but not the other. Kitchen has a nice upgrade from the last time we stayed but both kitchen sinks have serious leaks happening under them, would hate for the new cabinets & flooring to get damaged.

Bend Guard Station is a perfect cabin in the woods for family and friends to get together and enjoy games, visiting without the interruption of phones/TV. The cabin is very nice inside with everything you need for cooking.. A beautiful area for walking, or any outdoor activity.

Great facility for small to large groups. Double kitchen and two bathrooms are awesome. Great hunting, hiking and fishing right out the door.

Great area and nice cabin, we gave 4 stars because ticks seem to be in full force…Even killed a couple crawling up the wall on one corner of the upstairs.

We loved our stay at Bend Guard. The modern amenities and duplicate appliances in the kitchen were incredibly convenient for our large group. There were so many things already stocked in the cabin as well.

We found the place easily and it was well stocked and taken care of. Although there isn't much forest service land by the cabin, there is plenty of lumber land to explore. Lots of logging roads twisting all over the place. Saw tons of tracks, but little wildlife. It was super cold while we were there. Barely reached double digits. But the cabin was comfortable and cozy. Will definitely come back again!

This place is amazing, the new kitchen remodel is great! We were pleasantly surprised to find a all the pots, pans, dishes and silverware we needed were already at the cabin. The beds although basic were nice and comfortable, just remember to bring sleeping bags or bedding for single beds. The hot showers aare nice to have while out enjoying nature and the thompson river right across from the cabin had great fishing. We will be back next year for sure!!

Cabin was kind of messy and now that it's $90 a night, it was a bit frustrating to be cleaning up after the construction work.

Cabin is outfitted extremely well and is comfortable. There's literally 2 of everything - 2 coffee pots, 2 toasters, 2 griddles, 2 ovens, 2 microwaves, 2 sinks, etc. Bedrooms are downstairs (and outside). Electricity and running hot & cold water even in the winter. Wow. Everything is updated and in good shape, and plenty of cleaning supplies to keep it tidy when you leave. No cell service anywhere close, so the sign that says call the electrical company when the power goes out doesn't make much sense. Backup propane stove for heat was broken with a 3 month old out of service sign on it. The only disappointment is the lack of recreation at the cabin. It sits in the midst of Plum Creek timber lands, with a road right behind the cabin, so it isn't a remote experience, even though it's a 32 mile drive in a gravel road. You will hear road traffic. Very limited recreation at the cabin without a drive. I think it's an old decommissioned campground that sits adjacent; there are troads to walk around (but not enough snow to ski). Otherwise it's a 5+ mile drive to find a decent trail or lake. (And we do not agree with doubling the price to $90/night)

@BranJen - Santa Clara, CA

I wanted to thank you for this site and especially for the notifications feature. Thanks to your site and my subscription I was able to book a campsite I've been annoyingly trying to book for 5 years unsuccessfully. So thank you.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
