Excellent facility for a small family or couple kitchen is well equipped. Beds comfortable (take a blanket to cover the plastic mattress cover or it gets sweaty). Nice ski tour over the bridge and up the road. Good downhill and touring ski routes at Lookout Pass 16 miles west.

This is one of my favorite places to vote. The cottage is so comfortable and the grounds are beautiful any time of year.

Very clean and comfortable. WE enjoyed building a fire and had everything we needed. Clear directions on what was expected for clean up. WE enjoyed the close proximity to food and shopping and trails for hiking and biking. Love the 50,000 dollar store and did Xmas shopping there!It was so nice to get emails from you that reminded us of the trip, the access code all worked. Price was reasonable. Thank you so much! WE enjoyed also the signs on the nursery land and marked trails with information about the trees and benches! Love the sound of the creek also.Lisa and Ron

This was our second stay at Savenac. The first time was at the Cookhouse during the Summer months and the second at the East Cottage in April. Both times were a great experience. Yes, it is close to the highway and there are road noises, but a walk into the nursery fields makes the noise go away. The East Cottage stay was great. The utilities work well and the furniture is in good repair. We had to bring bedding and towels, but the kitchen is well stocked with needs to cook meals there. We had the entire nursery pretty much to ourselves during most of our stay. We used this stay as a homebase to go to the National Bison Range, Missoula and some hiking around the St. Regis region. All of these locations, in our opinion, are a reasonable distance away. For the price you really can't get any better. We are grateful that this place exists and it is available to rent.

The cabin was clean, great location for our activities, such a bonus to have a bathroom and running water.

Love this cabin. Soo peaceful! Love walking around the grounds and exploring the nursery. Huge fire pit. Great spot for stargazing. Wish the museum was open so we could get a better understanding of the grounds. The 50k silver dollar bar next door is always fun to walk around in. Has everything you need except bedding.

Good location. Easy to find and get to. Full house amenities and not just a cabin. October is a good time to stay here.

This is the best kept secret in Montana! The perfect place to stay after hiking to fire towers, riding the Hiawatha trail, or fishing in the rivers. Very comfortable, affordable, clean, all the amenities including a shower and flush toilet and full kitchen. It's perfect for families. It is located on a beautiful property with a rich history, trails, and fields where you can play horseshoes, volleyball, frisbee or other games. It would be great for a family reunion. It has a bunk house, kitchen house and cottages. The volunteers were a delight, Cleaning the cottage was quick with supplies and clearly explained instructions. If you are lucky enough to find a time available, I would highly recommended staying here.

Cute cottage, walking trails were nice. Too bad it's right next to the freeway.

I loved this cabin. A perfect get away for just one person. I could hear the interstate traffic but that was not an issue. The cabin itself was well stocked, warm and very cozy.

The good: Nice accommodations with electricity and heat, indoor plumbing and full kitchen. The kitchen was amazing with all the labeled doors. Good for families. Cool newer rustic designed furniture in the bedrooms. Nice grounds and short walking areas. I have Verizon & was able to get full 4G coverage. Good amount of cleaning supplies. Next to the $50,000 Dollar Bar & Inn for meals and alcohol. Convenient to the seasonal Hiawatha Bike Trail. Nice to have dumpsters on site to dump your trash after staying here. So many Forest Service rentals leave you stuck hauling your trash around until you find a trash can. Interesting architectural features. Pamphlets were in desk drawer to provide a guided tour of the grounds. The bad: Nursery museum sadly was closed for the season while we were there. We would have liked to see. Maybe the Forest Service can arrange it so that when renters stay they can get a key from the campground host to view. Heavy cooking grease smell upon entry. Bring Air freshener. Forest Service rentals rely on people cleaning up after themselves. From our experience the bigger the place the less clean it is upon arrival and this was no exception. There was hair in the tub, urine and feces markings in the toilet. The bath mat smelled so bad we did not even touch it. It really should just be thrown away. Nice to have a hot shower but hardly any pressure and you got to play with the cold water to not get burned or chilled. At $88 after all fees to rent you may want to consider a nearby fire lookout (Seasonal) if available. The $50,000 Dollar Inn next door is only a little more and has a TV and WiFi and you don't have to clean when you leave. Next to the interstate but noise to us was not an issue. We only stayed here due to needing a place with showers after a family Hiawatha bike ride. It may be worth it to stay here one time but we can't see staying here again. Not horrible but there are better options out there.

This cabin is very comfortable with easy and quick access to the Hiawatha Trail, and for a bit longer drive access to the Trail of the Coeur d’Alene.

Neat and clean with a well organized kitchen. Could use some work on the iceberg forming at the driveway access. No TV or internet so bring a book. Overall a nice place to stay.

We went to the cabin during the perfect time! It snowed a ton and we had a blast snowshoeing, throwing snow balls and making snow angels. The compound is absolutely beautiful. The trees are breathtaking- make sure to explore the trailheads near the cookhouse.

This was my third time staying at the west cottage. I was quiet and relaxing. I enjoying going for walks around the grounds. The cottage is clean, comfortable and well stocked.

@BranJen - Santa Clara, CA

I wanted to thank you for this site and especially for the notifications feature. Thanks to your site and my subscription I was able to book a campsite I've been annoyingly trying to book for 5 years unsuccessfully. So thank you.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
