Our stay at the historic Bull River Cabin was fantastic. Thanks to the Kootenai National Forest for maintaining and making this resource available to the public!

Cabin is in a beautiful location. There is an awesome creek across the road. Visitors daily stopping by to check out the historical building. Was happily surprised to see a fridge. Wasps everywhere all day, multiple stings in our group so we stayed inside or far from the cabin during the heat of the day. Lots of biking and hiking opportunities right from cabin. Bull River is very close but need to hike through bushes to access, tributary across the street much more accessible. Both very cold!

Another great time at the Bull RIver Cabin, late June there are mosquitoes, bring plenty of bug spray.

We really enjoyed our stay. A very nicely stocked kitchen. Make sure to bring mattress covers. The ones on the beds are very stained.

The furnace is so loud it kept us all awake most of the night. The windows and doors are absolutely filthy and haven't been cleaned in years. We did basic cleaning but at $75 a night we are entitled to a more sanitary situation.

Lovingly done historic preservation, complete with period-appropriate furniture. The kitchen is well outfitted with cooking and eating paraphernalia. We re-upped our water supply by boiling water from the nearby East Fork.

Do be aware that there are mice in the cabin. We found no operative traps and didn't think to bring our own. Plan your food storage system accordingly!

This is a very nice cabin with all amenities available except for drinking water. Otherwise, it was clean and comfortable.

We had a great stay here! We have a minivan with snow tires and were able to drive all the way up to the cabin on the roads with no issues in mid-February. We stayed with 6 adults/3 couples and each couple was able to have their own room. Cabin had everything we needed for cooking/eating. The heating worked great and we stayed plenty warm at night. Enjoy!

It still is such a wonderful cabin and so nice for the location, beautiful scenery etc. I've rented it 3 times and always had a great time. Warm and relaxing and while most of the time, someone has graciously left some wood for the great fire pit, you wouldn't want to miss out so come prepared if you want to see a sky full of stars while cooking marshmallows.

The cabin is charming and was very clean. Thank you, previous renters! The location by the river is nice but had lots of visitors park by the cabin to go fishing.
The biggest complaint is that the cabin was recently restored but not to historic preservation standards. It is a shame that the FS historians allowed the electricity to be installed and for God's sakes they put in an electric furnace in lieu of the wood stoves. The charm of renting a truly historic 1908 cabin is no longer there.
The place desperately needs screens. Flies and mosquitoes are ubiquitous. "Wire Cloth" (window screens) were in common use by the late 1800's.

I wanted to thank you for this site and especially for the notifications feature. Thanks to your site and my subscription I was able to book a campsite I've been annoyingly trying to book for 5 years unsuccessfully. So thank you.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
