Nice location very near flushing bathrooms and the lakeside. Nicely situated among trees; plenty of shade. Firewood available and the deer are friendly! Took a hike on a nearby trail and sat at the gravesite of Sam and Nina Owen. Whoever loved and buried them made sure they enjoy the most amazing view for eternity. It it quite touching. This is a terrific campground!

Our time at Sam Owen was quite enjoyable. A little less rain would have been nice, but it is what it is. The campground itself is quite large with several loops and has flush toilets with running water for the summer season. The fire rings were large and wood is sold in the campground. The dump station is a pay station, but at eight dollars I thought it was reasonable. The hosts we met were very nice and friendly and they had ice and wood for sale. All in all we liked our site and the campground in general. The swimming area was well marked, and of course no life guard. A concession had kayaks for rent. If you have a boat, the Beyond Hope Resort marina is right next door with beautiful slips and a good ramp. If there is one downside to Sam Owen it would be the boat launch. Fairly shallow, and in the waves, should you want to load or unload, come.in directly off the lake and make the launch challenging at best. The dock isn't much help for tieing up or anything else for that matter. Still a beautiful place that we'll likely go back to.

This is our second year using the Sam Owen Campground in Hope, Idaho for our annual church camp out. The park is absolutely beautiful! The park attendants are friendly and helpful. We go later in the summer so the beach has not been packed with great areas for children and an area for the dogs. We enjoyed the local #4 hike which was just the right distance and great for families. The bathrooms are well stocked and maintained. Appreciate the flushing toilets. The one draw back is the 6:00 AM Friday garbage truck that startles you out of your opportunity to sleep in on your vacation.

Richard, the campground host, was the most helpful ever. We had difficulty leveling our trailer due to a steep parking pad. He assisted us WELL BEYOND normal. The campground was clean, bathrooms tidy & stocked and other campers were friendly & considerate. Well be back

Campground was very family friendly. The location was great and bathrooms were clean. We reserved two different sites and both were nice. We will return in the future and hope to stay longer. We brought paddle boards and my kids played beach volleyball.

Very nice and very quiet camping experience. The bathrooms were extremely clean and camp hosts were very nice. The only negative we would give is for the firewood. The price is now $8 for a bundle and the bundles are TINY!! We went thru 3 bundles for one evenings fire.

Nice campground, clean, campsites in the red loop are very close to the lake. The men's bathroom stalls were all missing doors, but otherwise the bathrooms were okay (motion sensor lights that sometimes go off while you're in there so maybe bring a light with you!). Easy to walk over to the Beyond Hope resort restaurant for a good meal. Our specific campsite didn't have much shade, but plenty of the sites have shade. Limited cell service (no service on AT&T but some service with Verizon, better cell service at the resort next door if needed). Ice and firewood for sale from the camp hosts, which was very convenient! Very friendly camp hosts as well.

The campground is nice and location is great however our spot at 72 was infested with wasps it made it difficult to enjoy doing anything other than leaving and going for drives. I cant imagine having kids at this site

This campground is well-maintained and beautifully located next to a lake with clean/clear water. On top of this, it is wonderfully dog-friendly! Our campground host (Richard) did a good job keeping things tidy and in order, and from what I saw, he went above and beyond to ensure everyone had what they needed. Unfortunately, he could only do so much, as there was a rather inconsiderate family at a neighboring site that made noise (child would randomly scream for attention after 10p and past midnight while her parents completely ignored her; the parents [father especially] also talked loudly during "quiet time"). Richard did speak with them the next day, which did help. Aside from that family, others encountered were courteous and friendly--many were returning visitors. This stay was my third time at this campground--I only wish I had known about it years before!

Sam Owen is a great campground which is located right on the lake. I was happy to hear that 2500 new trees were planted to replace those lost in the wind storm several years ago. I have one issue with the boat launch area. Kids and adults swimming directly behind the boat dock and ramp is not a safe idea. When you are backing up or backing off the trailer you can not always see everything behind you. How about a sign stating no swimming within 50 feet of boat ramp. The host never says anything to these people. Also I had an experience where a person parked their car on the one lane road and left it there. How about a little courtesy the parking lot is only 50 yards away!

Busy family vacation campground, nicely laid out and most sites have privacy and some shade. Campground has lakeside beach (rocks, not sand) and clean rest rooms with flush toilets.

While our site was a little tight for two tents we had an amazing time. The site had close access to the lake where we set chairs and picnic blankets to hang out for the day. Restrooms were a little outdated but pretty clean. Host was great. Its a beautiful area.

The campground is outstanding. Their camp space, view from the camp, security top notch. Host was visiting every campground every 30 mins and ask if anyone needs anything just inform them. We rent kayak from them , half day for 30 dollar. overall the was so helpful

Beautiful campground with easy access to the lake. Watch out for a bazillion tiny tots roaming the campground loops and you'll be good to go!

@BranJen - Santa Clara, CA

I wanted to thank you for this site and especially for the notifications feature. Thanks to your site and my subscription I was able to book a campsite I've been annoyingly trying to book for 5 years unsuccessfully. So thank you.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
