Absolutely serene, we had the best time and our spot was fantastic. The fire pit was not the best but we made it work perfectly.Site 6 definitely has an amazing view of the lake! I cannot wait to come back.

Beautiful, peaceful, and safe campground. Two waterfalls just a five-minute walk away, easy trail surrounding the lake, and lovely Crested Butte just 20 minutes back down the dirt road. AWD or 4WD not needed for road. I'll definitely be back but for a whole week next time!

Campground was supposed to have been renovated last year, 2023. Now that project has been postponed. Sites are in severe need of some work. Filthy, poorly located fire pits, tables that are too low to the ground (like 8 inches between seat and ground on mine), unlevel, no water, I could go on. The bathroom was out of paper Sunday morning. I had so much trash in my firepit that it was not usable. Campground host told me he was told not to make any improvements. Day trippers come over to use campground bathrooms because there isn't one in the fishing/boat launch area. I wouldn't recommend until they get around to fixing this neglected campground up.

Site was great lake was awesome. Only thing holding it back is the access road which is very rough and rocky - and beat up my trailer a bit. Loved it once we got there.

Big campsites, many fairly private. Beautiful scenery and access to lake.

Beautiful area. Camp fire pits are in bad shape and full of ashes and shallow so need to be shoveled out prior to use.

Not very convenient for tents, except from the few sites with tentpads. No water, pit-toilets. Nice surroundings though. Glad we canceled one night and stayed only one instead of two.

Loved the campground! Been visiting to SUP etc. But was the first time camping! Camping host was great! We stayed a 2nd night and left $20 at the Camp Host site table. Quiet and clean! Amazing views and friendly campers! Want to come back next year, but it appears that the campground will be closed for 2023 for renovations.

Views are amazing and fishing was good. 3 stars because the water was not turned on and it did not mention that in the reservations. So we had to run to town to get water.

Always an amazing experience at Lake Irwin. We watched bald eagles fishing in the lake, paddle boarded, biked, and did a nice hike to Scarps Ridge. No water at the campground, but we knew that ahead of time, so we were prepared. Site wasn't very clean. Someone had scattered burnt wood out of the fire pit, which was also dirty. Bathrooms were filthy the second night we were there.
@RussellM505814 · Camped on Sep 1, 2022 at Campsite #10
Fire pit was unusable due to pile of coals built up underneath the grill grate (the grate was resting on top of the coals and coals were flowing out from the side). Bathrooms smelled bad and not clean. We opted for the dispersed camping outside of the campground where there were clean port a potties, nice big fire pits w/ operable grill grate, and more space for camping.

Dramatic views and gentle walks. Fascinating to be nestled between the ridges when the rain blew in. Fortunately we had enjoyed enough of our campfire. It was busy with paddle boarders and hiking groups, but didn't seem crowded in spite of the numbers. We had plenty of privacy. We hope to visit again someday when we venture West from Ohio.

Lake Irwin is a great getaway from the world as it’s @10k feet with no cell service. The views from our campsite #31 were peaceful and amazing! There are many activities like hiking past camp to Scarpe Ridge, or too the waterfalls (<1/4 mile) or around Lake Irwin. We were in the area for the Wildflower Festival and camped in our Sprinter van. Would do it all again!

Beautiful camp spot. Plenty of restrooms. Clean grounds and amazing views. You can walk to the lake via any spot within 5 minutes. Highly recommended.

This was our first time to the Lake Irwin Campground. What a gorgeous place! We had the most beautiful campsite, #8, with a lake view. Miss it already.

We love Crested Butte! We enjoyed hiking, biking, fishing, camping, 4 wheel driving, general site seeing and eating in town. It was also great to be able to fill trailer with water in town and dump as well.

Such a beautiful site and also busy as others have noted. James was a wonderful and welcoming host who kept the place in great shape. Fun to learn about the actual town and meet some folks who live up there year round. Overall a place that you should not miss.
@PhillipH853 · Camped on Aug 24, 2021 at Campsite #32
The campsite was nice, the views were great. The lake itself was muddy and left a bit to desire. The views were incredible. The little waterfalls were a short walk. The pit toilets were kept clean but sure needed some additive to alleviate the smell, it permeated our campsite.

One of the most beautiful campgrounds ever.

@BranJen - Santa Clara, CA

I wanted to thank you for this site and especially for the notifications feature. Thanks to your site and my subscription I was able to book a campsite I've been annoyingly trying to book for 5 years unsuccessfully. So thank you.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
