I would not return to this campground even though it is situated in a beautiful spot high above Taylor Reservoir. The camp hosts were awesome and everything was very clean so that wasnt a problem. I didnt realize that this campground and in fact the whole area was a Mecca for ATVers. Constant noise and especially dust is the norm. Taylor Park is filled with dust all day from the hundreds of ATVs and dirt bikes buzzing everywhere. At night the liberal use of generators insures more noise. Im not really saying this is bad, its just not for us. We go camping for peace and quiet and this isnt the place for that. If you are after a cool place for motorized recreation then this is your place! If not Id recommend a different campground.

This was above the lake, off of a dirt road. Our campsite was in the trees, which was nice, some campsites were completely in the open. The camp hosts were very nice and helpful. This was a haven for ATVs and it was very dusty as a result. So, if youre not into off road vehicles you might want to reconsider. The river was very close and quite lovely.

Beautiful with Taylor River on one side and views of the Sawatch range on the other. No real potable water. A tad dusty

Great location along the river. Fantastic views from the campground. Most sites have shade. Bathrooms were clean and the campground is well maintained. Lots of space between sites. Tent sites could use pads. From the campground theres easy access to fishing, hiking and mountain biking, and water sports are a few miles away at Taylor reservoir and Spring Creek reservoir. Theres also gas, food and supplies at the Trading Post at Taylor. Would go there again.

We have been camping at Dinner Station for 60 years. Over the years, the campground has remained pretty much the same, beautiful place to enjoy nature. However, the past few years have seen a big increase in ATVS, dirt bikes and other off-road motorized trail users whose actions do not show respect for the beauty of the area or for the other campers who come to this place for the peace of the outdoors. The camp host, Doug Cain was great. He was friendly, attentive to the basic maintenance of the sites, non-intrusive but visible, and not afraid to enforce the rules of the campground. Upon our arrival he was in the process of handing out a second warning to some dirt bike racing kids that they were exceeding the posted speed limit of 5 MPH thru camp. His whole objective was to ensure a pleasant stay for all the campground users. And, thanks to his diligence, the first days of our trip were peaceful and beautiful as we expected. Unfortunately, someone complained about Doug's rules enforcement to campground management, and Doug was immediately terminated from his position. He packed up, said good-bye and was gone the next day with no host to replace him. We were angry to see this lack of support for a campground host from his own employer as well as from the Federal Forest Service representative. He was doing his job and doing it well from our perspective. We continue to camp in our favorite areas around our home state, and it is becoming more evident that users of the campgrounds have little regard for the rules, or for others around them. As a result, Camp Hosts seem tired, fed up, unwilling to enforce rules, unwilling to confirm that the sites are occupied with the appropriate reservation, and some seem to avoid any interaction at all with campers. It is very unfortunate that when there is a good one, like Doug, he is fired on the spot.

Doug made our stay very special. Dinner Station is our favorite campground in Colorado!

We had a fly fishing event (the Fly Gals of Chaffee County) and held it there. The host, Doug made things so smooth for our group, answering questions and making any possible accommodations that he could for us. He is a GEM! We will be back.

Doug and his dog Miles do a great job at the campground! He is trying to keep it peaceful and safe. I appreciate his effort to keep the rules enforced ( speed, noise, parking, etc..). I hate to give away the secret of such a great place in the Rockies, but we love it and will continue to visit.

Close to the river to get great white noise to fall asleep to. Very dark to be able to see the Milky Way and trillions of stars. Camp host was great.

Bathrooms were awful and not clean and there was no water available as stated. I'm not sure why I was charged to stay here when I could've disperse camped 50 yards away.

Even though the website said there was potable water at this location, the pump was not working.

the place is still in great area. however the water fountain is broken and apparently has been for sometime. the steps leading to the fountain are also broken. Forest Service needs to step and get fixed asap.

No Usable Water. Don't be fooled, there is no potable water. USFS employee laughed, "Who would want to drink this water?". This was after the pump was broken for several days. Non existent Payton (host?) locked women's toilet. Beautiful site #12. Lots of ATV traffic in the middle of the week.
@PeggyM2002705 · Camped on Aug 17, 2022 at Campsite #12
Very good time. Host was helpful in letting us move to a better site. The campfire metal rings are too high to really enjoy. Can't roast marshmellows or get warm from the fire.

Very wonderful experience! Was able to find help when needed and the views were absolutely incredible. A lot of ATV/UTV/Dirt Bike traffic but that is what you get during the peak season.
@KeithL8101118 · Camped on Jul 21, 2022 at Campsite #18
To many ATV's everywhere. Not so much in the camp ground. Felt the host was good and the neighbors nice, Hated the congestion in the area. It had been 50 years seance I was in Taylor park. Will not return for fun. Forfeted second night fees just to get away from the crowd. Told my wife we must have been crazu to leave our quiet country farm just to camp among the hords of weekenders.

@BranJen - Santa Clara, CA

I wanted to thank you for this site and especially for the notifications feature. Thanks to your site and my subscription I was able to book a campsite I've been annoyingly trying to book for 5 years unsuccessfully. So thank you.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
