Lovely campground, quiet and private spaces. Toilets are stinky/buggy and there's no potable water plumbing, which is inconvenient but I'm a backpacker with a gravity bag so that's not important to me.

Beautiful location! The river is so nice to walk up and explore. The waterfalls are great and perfect to jump in from the top assuming youre okay with cold water.

We really enjoyed ourselves. We got quite lucky with our site too. I highly recommend site 11 if you want to feel secluded in nature. And I would recommend sites 12 & 13 for larger camp groups. Beautiful Views, Clean sites, great river access. Toilets were ok, quite old. Id recommend bringing your own disposable toilet seat covers. But otherwise it was a great getaway! Very thankful to the Host Family :)

Quiet campground, and this particular campsite is above the river. Can easily walk down to Sunset Falls. Vault toilets.

The site was nice enough, but it was quite a bit of a hike in, much more than indicated. The bathrooms were horrific and not kept up, however. Lots of flies in the area, too.

Yes, the bathrooms are old, but the sites were wonderful and very private

Our site was not labeled well and was a bit of a trek from the car to the site. Not a big deal but would hav been nice to be warned

Quiet, cosy campsite. Firewood for sale.

We had a fantastic stay here. It was very quiet and the river provided perfect white noise at night. My husband and I enjoyed being off our devices especially since we had no reception. Will be going back soon!

Fairly quiet.

No drinking water is available. This is inconvenient.Toilets were fairly clean with TP available. They appear old and end-of-life.Overall, a nice campground, good location, shaded campsites and close to Vancouver and smaller towns for supplies.

Love this site! I would like to have updated restrooms. The site keepers are wonderful. Waterfall in campground, what more could you ask for?

The walk in sites are nice and secluded. Loved being by the river. Up the river there are cool waterfalls and swimming holes!

Campsite itself was fine. It was a walk-in, tucked around the corner from other walk in sites and felt semi-private with trees. However the bathrooms closest to walk in sites were terrible, even for vault toilets. Smell of urine made my eyes and nose burn, floor covered in cat litter and trash. It had not been maintained in a while.

This is my second time staying at this campground, I absolutely love it. My only complaint is the stench of the bathroom, which i don't think much can be done about that which i completely understand. I will definitely be back again!

No water or campfire wood when we visited! Definitely would’ve been nice to know ahead of time. Was disappointed in the car camping spot - right off the road and no access to the water from the site.

Beautiful spot to camp at right along the river. Things to do with nearby Forest roads. Peaceful and beautiful

Based on the campground description, we expected to be camping in a forest, mainly in the shade, with some separation from neighbors. The walk-in distance to the site was doable, and we were glad the vault toilets weren’t far. But our campsite was basically dry grass, beaten out, in the sun, with nothing between us and site 12. I gave this site 3 stars only because of last minute cancellation, we didn’t have neighbors at the site right next to us. So we didn’t have to spend 2 nights and days staring at each other and listening to each other’s conversations. We had one tree over the picnic table so we did have some shade, but the birds also liked to sit up there and poop on everything. The bushes were crowding the table on the two long sides but the campground rules were clear that we weren’t allowed to cut any back. It was a good jumping-off point for our day trip up to Lava Canyon, June Lake, and the Trail of Two Forests on the south side of Mt. St. Helens, and reasonably quiet at night. We stayed Wednesday and Thursday nights, but by mid-morning Friday tons of people showed up and started taking all of the parking. Signage was clear the lot was only for current campers and these were mainly day users who didn’t want to pay the fee. Several walked down with floating/kayaking gear to an occupied campsite with river access (11) trying to get through and were told politely that the site was in use. In a way we were grateful our site had no river access. Wish we would have enjoyed it more; it sounded like a beautiful site and campground from the USFS description. I walked the loop and there was one first come first served site that was wonderful, site 3 I think. I didn’t particularly like any others. We used 8 gallons of water in less than 2 days. No water in campground or potable water nearby as far as I know. Little general store, cell service, pizza place about 7 miles west and 3 miles north.

Overall great campsite but prepare for the bathroom situation. As especially in the summer it just heats everything up so extra smelly but it could have been much worse! The camp host was super kind and helpful. And it’s a short walk from some very fun waterfalls and swimming holes. But if you have very young children I wouldn’t recommend those areas as teens hangout there so young children could get hurt or scared. For our stay we had an amazing time and schedule our next stay!

clean, fairly secluded site with the quiet whisper of the river for the calming effect

Nice spot to camp. Wish people would have more respect for nature. Overall beautiful.

The campground was easy to locate, quiet, and clean. Our host was wonderful and helpful! We will absolutely be going back! Sunset Falls was super close by and easy to access. We definitely recommend staying her. Site 15 was tucked away, more private, and had wonderful sounds of the creek.

Not exactly as it looked online. Site 12 and 13 are almost on top of each other. I reserved lot 13 weeks in advance but when I arrived it appeared to be reserved for another family (according to the reservation sheets in front of each site). I spent 4 hours waiting for the host to show up at the host site but nope. So I finally selected a site that said available. I had purchased for 3 nights. On the morning of day 3 a group of 30 people came through and said they couldn’t find the host so the previous day they just picked lots they like and reserved those (even though you are only supposed to book online where you can see dates of available sites or you show up and pick an empty site). They just decided to claim some. I had been at the falls and returned to the site and they said they were trying to find the host so they could kick me out since they had paid (I paid too and I was actually the one using the site but apparently that doesn’t matter if you are outnumbered and there is no host to lay down the law). Nobody ever did see the host the 3 days I was there. And when I heard there were 30 people (“at least” since they were hoping others would come and they could just use the little grassy island and turn that public space into their private campground) I realized that was gonna be one crazy night anyway so I left early, though I paid for three nights. The camp sites themselves are good. 11-16 are WALK IN! this was not very clear on the map. But they are more private too. You can get to the river from some sites but they are all steep pathways. 11 is very private. 6 is the most private from the drive up sites. Lots to do in the Moulton Falls area. Not much to do at Sunset itself. Was very crowded so hard to find room on the river. Lots of litter. :(. Moulton was clean and tons to do but a 15 minute drive from Sunset. I wouldn’t stay at Sunset again unless it actually had a host and was cleaner.

@BranJen - Santa Clara, CA

I wanted to thank you for this site and especially for the notifications feature. Thanks to your site and my subscription I was able to book a campsite I've been annoyingly trying to book for 5 years unsuccessfully. So thank you.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
