I did my reservations online at my favorite campsite. I had no idea that I’d have to backpack in to the campsite. After driving 8 hours and getting there all excited about it just to find out I can’t drive up to camp because road had been closed for some time. No warning of that online for site #43. I tried to redo my reservation without success. So I took it upon myself to check the reservations close to my site. Chose 39 for the convenience. Seeing it was not reserved until after my check out. That was my mistake. The park attendant Trish would not work with me, much less Park Ranger. So I had to pack up camp from 39 and move to 43. I only took the tent and bedding. We had planned a birthday getaway for us girls. Trish made it very hard on us saying only two vehicles allowed in park by campers. There are visitors tags for your car, visitors check out time, etc. but they cannot park in community area and visit you. So she really threw an axe to our plans. She was extremely rude to my camper friend whom is hard of hearing and deaf. She wouldn’t let her come in to the park until my other friends left. 2 cars per campsite apparently. Typically I wouldn’t mind hiking in with my gear. But I was just recovering from Covid/Bronchitis, had traveled 8 hours to my surprise! My friends are older than myself and it made it really hard in them. The initial park attendant that checked me in that evening was extremely nice and very professional. Maybe Trish could learn something from her coworker.

Enjoyed our time but was very short handed to the point they were shutting down the facility early for the season.

It is a very clean quiet place, It is best if you can camp away from the busy highway so you don't hear that sound. We would stay there again, very nice.

Too much traffic. Area is too congested. Gates lock from10-7 with no gate code. I won’t be back.

Site was clean and had plenty of space, however there is a negative to this and other COE campgrounds in the area. The gate is locked from 10:30 pm till 7 am. This means if you like being locked in at night then this may be the place for you, but if you like to have freedom to come and go and visit the local area late in the evening or get out early then you will need to find somewhere else to stay. According to the rangers from the COE of this area, the gates are locked because of high crime in the area. We were told about the high crime rate when we arrived at the gate house for our stay.

This campground was very nice. The sites were very roomy and our campsite #4 was easily accessible to the lake so we were able to fish from our site. The only issue we had was at this particular site we didn't have room for our F-250 to fit were our popup was set up so we had to park at the overflow parking which is a bit of a distance if you have things to carry. The site is actually next to the end at a cul de sac which is a big area but they said incase of an emergency a firetruck would need to be able to turn around there. The bath house closes to us didn’t have hot water so that was a bummer. The park attendants were extremely nice though. And there was also police patrolling and sitting at the front gate all day long. We would definitely stay here again though.

Beautiful campground with friendly attendants.

E had a wonderful time for it first camping trip. Our only complaint was that half of our campsite was INFESTED with fire ants. So our picnic table was unable to be used and we had to cram our tent and the fire on the same side of the pad.

When we check in the person who was attended us, he didn't wanted to let in us because he said the name was wrong we didn't understand that because I had the reservation and I show him the reservation number an d he was mad and he said I gonna call the ranger you can't be in, so a terrible experience with that man.

Picked up a couple midweek nights for a quiet last minute get away.
@MikeM694 · Camped on Jul 12, 2021 at Campsite #32
A lot of hills and steep inclines backing into many of the spots. Not well maintained. All in all, the worst COE campgrounds I have been to so far.
@DwayneW508 · Camped on Jul 8, 2021 at Campsite #36
The sites were smaller than we were used to.
@VeronicaH560 · Camped on Jul 8, 2021 at Campsite #55
The campground is small, the map is not accurate that is listed. The beach area I'd nice, but their are TONS of fire ants. Our site was infested with them. The gate attendate literally rode down our road 10 times yesterday. We were at the beach and another family that was about to leave had their kids and service dog down their and he got onto them and "he didn't look like a service dog" and then asked for their papers. It is illegal to ask that and just plain rude how he treated that family.

Beautiful campground with many lakefront sites. Way nicer than most RV parks and at a great price!
@KarenW695 · Camped on Jul 5, 2021 at Campsite #21
Site 21 is awesome! It’s a pull-thru lake front site with a tent pad and picnic area. My husband was able to fish in front of our campsite so it was very convenient. We brought a kayak and enjoyed being on the lake as well! Highly recommend Sawnee!
@ScottO170 · Camped on Jul 2, 2021 at Campsite #35B
Postive Aspects: Well maintained and clean campgrounds, clean bathrooms, trash removal, beautiful views. Negative Aspects: If you get a primitive tent lot eventhough there is a road that is locked by a gate that the tendants have keys to, you are not allowed to the road to haul your gear to your campground. This makes absolutely no sense and they will not budge on this. I saw them open the gate for maintenance team however they would not open it up for me or my family if even so we could just drop our gear off. The best part is the reasoning they give, "We have a concern that camp goers will drive their vehicles into the lake". Really? This campground would have been higher rated if it had polite attendants and a revised primitive campground access.

@BranJen - Santa Clara, CA

I wanted to thank you for this site and especially for the notifications feature. Thanks to your site and my subscription I was able to book a campsite I've been annoyingly trying to book for 5 years unsuccessfully. So thank you.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
