Unfortunately, it was too windy to enjoy our stay. I wear glasses and the wind was so strong it I was blowing them off my face.Other than that, it was a very beautiful view as long as we stayed inside we were ok.

Super cute! Lots of flies though and had some mice come out at night in the cabin which was creepy. I also had a group of guys come up to the lookout (5 trucks), one guy came up from behind the lookout out of nowhere which was really annoying since I had a dog running around. Please be mindful of there is someone staying in fire lookouts. We go for peace and quiet and dont want to see other people!

A beautiful location. Its too bad the structure is falling apart. There is not much upkeep going on around here. The place wont be standing much longer at this rate.

Very fun experience. It was so quiet and secluded, and hiking around provided amazing views. We only stayed two nights, but it was completely worth it.

Beautiful views and a great experience! This lookout is one of the easiest to drive up to among the 18 I have stayed at. However, since the lookout is worn and showing its age, there are a few things to consider. It's best to bring your own lights, as one of the propane lights is broken, and there were no mantels (standard ones should fit if you're coming soon).Please be aware that, like most lookouts, the windows don't fit closely, and there are no screens. To address this, bring some blue painter's tape, which can serve two purposes. First, if bugs are bothersome, you can use the tape to plug holes and remove it before you leave. Second, you can order cheap screen material and tape it with the blue painter's tape over the windows during your stay so you can open the windows, and then remove it when you leave!Despite these considerations, it's still a fantastic spot to stay, offering stunning views and a memorable experience.

This is one of the nicer fire towers we’ve stayed at. The wood stove keeps the place cozy (just remember to bring plenty of wood). The kitchen area is well stocked. The views are truly amazing.

My wife and I had a great time. It was cold and windy (10/9) but when the sun was out the room got really warm. Full sky, sunrise-sunset. 1st night saw UFO...no really. Saw pulsing orbs in SE at maybe 10,000'(we're at 8,000) moved to south in blink of an eye, then SW, and were chased off by 2 military jets. Entire event took less than 15 seconds. Did not come back second night. Other than that we had a peaceful time. The door does not lock so we moved table in front of door. Wood heater is a wood eater, but kinda heats the space.

This was a once in a life time opportunity. Went in the beginning of October so it was a bit cold (and very windy) but the wood stove kept us feeling toasty. Spent our days adventuring to the nearby peaks and spent our nights star gazing, incredible you can see the milky way! The sun sets and sun rises were absolutely stunning, worth getting up early for. There is a nearby water refill station but it was closed when we went (again early October) so luckily we had brought enough water. This was our first time staying in a fire lookout and will not be our last.

@BranJen - Santa Clara, CA

I wanted to thank you for this site and especially for the notifications feature. Thanks to your site and my subscription I was able to book a campsite I've been annoyingly trying to book for 5 years unsuccessfully. So thank you.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
