Love staying at Fort Pickens so close to the beach

We enjoyed Loop A as it was smaller than other loop. The road in/out was a bit flooded but that is beyond staff control. We toured Fort Pickens and enjoyed tsking our dog on the nature trail.

Hike/bike trails were great. We biked all over the island. The original fort was an awesome history come to life. All the Batteries were a new experience & showed ww2 protection of USA

Ive been here so many times and Ill go back several times a year for as long as I can. The best beach, nothing but nature, and the military history is the icing on the cake. With that said, it rained almost the entire time on this last trip, and I ended up reading John Steinbeck and drinking wine. Not bad!

Was a unique experience staying here...Huricane Rafael was offshore and we had a bit of rain...loved our time here and look forward to a return trip.

We stumbled upon this place and really enjoyed the campground. It was refreshing to see the camp host patrolling.The spaces were far enough apart from each other, level and it was great to have fire pits with grills. I only gave four stars because we had to pay for a site with hookups we did not need. The beaches were great, the Fort interesting and the town area wasn't far.

Fort Pickens campground is an absolute great campground. There are plenty of spots and the water is gorgeous by the campground and the fort. The only issue is if you have to get hold of the reservation office there are no set hours on the door and no phone number to call.

I love Fort Pickens! You can walk over the boardwalk to a beautiful beach. The Campground is kept clean.

This is a great campground! Clean, nicely laid out, great camp hosts. My only suggestion would be to alert potential guests to the fact that theres a toll bridge required to access the island from Pensacola. This is in addition to the $25 Gulf Shores pass.

The camping spots were wonderful and not cramped. The water and electricity worked as advertised. The only recommendation of issue is the dump station. The platform or parking area at the dump site should be higher than the drain to allow gravity to make the contents flow better. The current arrangement requires a lot of lifting of the hose to dump the contents.

I love Ft. Pickens. I have been camping there for up to 20 years. I camped in loop B with the old bathrooms!! I have to say the current state of bathrooms was horrible. They were never cleaned and i just stayed for a week. Tampons were in the shower and left for days, even after we asked the potty patrol to clean them. The campground was practically full. The Blue Angels were in town and it was embarrassing for this National Park to be so unkempt and the bathrooms at the Fort were awful as well. Toilets were overflowing we did tell the campground host and they did what they could. So disappointing.

We always love coming to Fort Pickens several times a year because there is so much to do and see. It's in its own little world out at the tip of the island and not crowded at all. The beaches are the best!

We relax and unwind here like no where else. If you are looking for a resort or activity-laden camping experience, don't come here. This place is about being in a quiet, natural environment.

We met up with long time camping friends. Sort of a pre-thanksgiving tradition. We were delighted with Blue Angel & Thunderbird practices during the week. Then the Grand Finally air show on Friday. This is a very serene place to spend time. Also a wonderful place for beach walks and bike rides to the fishing pier. Wonderful!

Make sure you have room to park your camper and tow vehicle or motorhome and toad. Very strict about being on the asphalt.Great for going to Fort Pickens and walking to the beach.

Really like this park for many reasonsbeaches, ecosystem, and history. Ive been coming here and camping for more than 60 years. Campground and facilities are in great shape but be forewarned. Not much shade and sites are not very deep. Most sites will only comfortably accommodate a smaller trailer or van. A few sites are longer but make sure you verify that your rig will fit. Extra parking is very limited as well.

A lovely park! A short walk to the beach where theres not a lot of foot traffic!

Always enjoy camping in campground A with all the trees and vegetation. Restrooms and showers could use some upgrades.Not thrilled with the lack of shade trees and other vegetation in campgrounds C and E. This area is more like an RV park with no/little privacy.

We enjoyed Fort Pickens so much we scheduled another visit soon after we left. Several nice sites. Beautiful drive to the campground and so many nice campers.

@BranJen - Santa Clara, CA

I wanted to thank you for this site and especially for the notifications feature. Thanks to your site and my subscription I was able to book a campsite I've been annoyingly trying to book for 5 years unsuccessfully. So thank you.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
