This campground is wonderful for its access to the river. The campsite we had this year (42), was well maintained and clean with ample spots for tents (we had 4 this year). The one issue we had this year was that the bathrooms were not as clean as previous years. This was our third year visiting and we enjoyed our time overall.

PiPi has always been a beautiful place to visit. This year it was very unpleasant, in the past our campsite had been cleaned from prior campers, such as the BBQ pits cleaned out as well as the fire rings, this year nothing , we had to clear out the trash even on the ground. The worst part of it was the bathrooms did not get tended to till the 3rd day that we were there. These are vaulted , and I get it, however no toiletries were provided till the weekend or washed down at all. They finally were tended on Friday PM. Now for the trash bins, upon arriving to PiPi , we seen the huge bins over loaded with trash, NO room to put anything on the bins , this was midweek, that meant that we had to keep our trash at our sites till the huge bins got emptied, then when they take them on Friday they didnt get returned till Saturday. PiPi was unrecognizable to me this year, because it was so unkept.

Love it, the camp host was nice as well. Water is perfect for the mid July heat. site 45 is super spacious and close to water. can fit more than 2 cars and lots of tents

First off I have been coming here for the past 15 years and this place never fails to me me happy. There are beautiful places to hike, fish, swim and jump off of rocks. There was a time that people were not picking up garbage. I think this was during covid. This year we had an amazing camphost, Lizzy. She helped address any concerns that we had. I was very surprised by how awesome she was as most camphost that we have had in the past did not really interact with the guests there. Put your cellphones on airplane mode. There is no service there. Perfect way to disconnect.

The campground was clean and quiet. The toilets were incredibly clean for pit toilets. The campground hosts were out and about doing their jobs.

The campground was great, but visitors need to be prepared for the access route. The road down from the highway is in pretty rough shape, and one side is closed (August 2023) due to a bridge out / landslide issue. Once in the campground, it's tight - make sure you're headed the right direction if you are towing. Otherwise, it was great spot. Trees are thick, water is cold, and we had a great time.

Absolutely loved camping here (weekend 8/4-8/6). Mosquitos were moderate so would recommend bringing mosquito nets and/or bugspray.

Great location but the road in is full of potholes and campground facilities need a little TLC.

Great hidden gem! We go every year! If youre looking for a fun and chill place to camp this is the spot. Love the creek and the swimming spots available too! If you are looking for a place with showers or clean smelling bathrooms this may not be it. We bring our own shower, and next year we will bring our own restroom.

Extremely disappointed in this camping experience. We drove 2 hours with our travel trailer only to find our camp site was being occupied by someone else. Granted we arrived 8 minutes before check-in, we waited. Time passed and they still hadnt come back. We went to the host site and she was no where to be found and no way of contacting her. We went back and forth from our reserved site to the host to try and figure things out. My friend arrived so we had her drive down to FCFS sites to see if any were available and to check at the other host site 40. All of the sites were occupied and site 40 was vacant. Almost an our had passed and the group of people finally came. I asked them if they were planning on moving their car and stuff. They said no and looked at me like what the heck I was asking for. I ever so nicely told them that this was my reserved camp site. They tried to say they checked and no one reserved it. Thankfully I had a screenshot of the reservation. Lack of host and rude people. Not coming back.

We had a delightful stay at PiPi campground. Beautiful river access and a well laid out and managed campground.

Quiet and serene. plenty of activity around the water. Road into campground is pretty badly damaged so take it slow. Potholes are deep.

I loved Pi Pi for it's natural beauty and remote location along one of California's un-tamed rivers, but don't expect the same level of care from the host and management company as you may have been accustomed to at other USFS sites.

Always a great time here... Site 1 was perfect for me and my pup. Lots of shade! Only downside is far from bathroom and water spigot is a bit of a walk, but with the water flowing so high, I was able to filter the river water.

Amazing wilderness feeling! The trees and river are magnificent.

Nice quiet campground. Well spaced sites. No cell service. Beautiful boardwalk along meadow and river.

This is a beautiful, forested campground by a rushing river. The spaces are all beautiful and mostly ample in size. We especially appreciated the handicap, friendly path that runs along the river. If this place wasn’t so far from home, we would visit it often.

This campground always delivers a perfect sierra experience. The river was running fast and deep this year so we did not wade much. All the streams are running down the hill through camp to the river. The meadows were in bright greens and the wild flowers starting to bloom. Early June is spectacular. The camp has vault toilets ; the ones I used this trip were clean and as you might expect of a vault. Always supplied with paper and water available just out front of each of them. The road down to camp and the roads through camp are in need of repair so be prepared to avoid potholes and drive slow. All part of the experience! the campground is a dry camp, no cell service, no electricity, no hot water or dump station. We use a travel trailer. If you book here be careful to choose a spot that works for your camper. We have stayed in 30, 31, 35. We are looking forward to 50 which is right on the river. Also looks like 47 is good for our trailer too. It is a perfect place to unwind for the whole family. The camp host is really nice and we are glad to see him back again this year.

The campground is clean, quiet, peaceful, enjoy the birds' 🎶 and listen to the running water from the stream/river. There is not much activities to do except hiking, walking, biking, playing in the stream/river and motor cycle riding in near by forest. The campground is about 30 miles away from Silver Lake if you want to visit. Overall, we enjoyed our stay there.

We've camped at PiPi several times now and love this hidden gem. The camp hosts Mike and wife Barbara are very friendly and accommodating. Hearing about Barbara's passing from Mike was really disheartening and we will miss her outgoing personality and service.

if you walk a ways you'll be in the burn from the Caldor Fire. IF you stay in camp, its untouched. Apparently Pipi was the camp for the fire crew who courageously defended our forests!

@BranJen - Santa Clara, CA

I wanted to thank you for this site and especially for the notifications feature. Thanks to your site and my subscription I was able to book a campsite I've been annoyingly trying to book for 5 years unsuccessfully. So thank you.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
