Twin Knobs Campground, Morehead, KY

Twin Knobs Campground is located in the Cumberland Ranger District, Daniel Boone National Forest (1 hr 23 min northeast of Richmond, KY) with an elevation of 807 feet. There are a total of 202 campsites. The campground is normally open from mid March to mid November. 198 sites can accommodate RVs between 18 and 96 feet. All sites are currently reservable. Reservations can be booked up to 6 months in advance. 9 sites have electric and water hookups. 101 sites have electric hookups. Fees range from $28.00 to $115.00. Some amenities include shower, drinking water, dump station, general store, playground, boat ramp, swimming, restroom, trash dumpster, amphitheater, flush toilets. Activities include boating, fishing, hiking trails, floating sports.

PROBABLY THE BEST WEATHER OF THE YEAR. TRICK OR TREAT IN A LOOP WAS A BLAST. I ONLY WISH PEOPLE (INCLUDING THE STAFF) WOULD SLOW DOWN.

We just enjoyed a full 10 days of camping at Twin Knobs at Cave Run Lake. Our site was nice as it was tree lined. Halloween activities were pleasant. Will return again.

I always have a good visit to Twin Knobs and this visit was near the end of the season. The camp ground was having Trick or Treat on Saturdays and it was great seeing all the children dressed up. Had a good site A39 and great camp hosts as well. There are a couple of things that I didn't agree with and that being the restrooms being "family" restrooms and there were NO heat in the bath house. Just a little heat would have been nice when it was in the 30-40 degrees several days.

Lovely sites but with the new paving on the road the drop off on the edges made for a tricky parking job. We were in the A loop. Also, might want to trim some of the foliage around the A loop sign. We missed it on our drive in. Hopefully whatever the issue is with the dump station will get resolved so both lanes are open.

The campground was very nice, our site was very spacious. The campground host and staff were very nice. I had an issue with the camper that needed repaired staff worked with me to help me find an RV tech to make the repairs. The lake was beautiful but we were there in the fall, so we did not do any water activities.

Stayed at F7 in Oct 2024. Great site. Flat, well shaded, double capacity, entry angle made it easy to back boat in. Plenty of room for tent, canopy, grill, and two picnic tables provided. This is a primitive site so now electric, sewer, or water in the site. But shared loop water spigot at end of driveway was very convenient. Sufficient privacy on both sides, but not at entry (looking directly at site across road). Fire pit located on entry end, so again, not as private as desired. Grill rack on fire pit is too high for my liking & doesn't flip back out of the way.Bathhouse close & clean. Four bathrooms total. Know two have showers, not sure if other two have showers. Bathhouse shared with another loop.There is a trail at rear of site that leads to the lake.Be sure NOT to leave food or trash out as signs say. Racoons got into our trash, and stole the Ritz crackers out of the canopy! Hilarious. Trash dumpster is a little past the bathhouse.Checkout is 11:00am, wish it was 1:00pm. At 11:00am on the dot campground folks stat driving their carts around the loop, assume they are checking people are leaving. My understanding is a different group has managed the campground for a couple years now. Seems they are doing a good job.Would definitely recommend this site specifically for tent camping. A smaller camper would be OK too for dry camping.

Folks are friendly, service is great. Things to do as hiking one of there many trails, exploring there shore. Over a great place to relax, great security.

Love the beautiful setting here. Camp sites are mostly spaced out for a little more privacy than Ive found at others. It is clean and I regularly saw staff around the place. Cell service was also good. My ONLY negative is no water hookups. Id love to see that come! But great campground.

Campsites were nice, clean and clearly marked. Shower houses were pretty clean and worked as they should with warm water. The campground boat ramp needs a sign to tell you to take the lower road (on the right) to the ramp. It can be a little confusing for a first timer because you cant actually tell where that road goes.

it is always a good time we usually go to the same site. It's like being in your private forest, plus being able to use the docks. Site B10 the driveway is short on the one side when trying to back the camper in the wheels of the camper and the truck drop off the curb side could be dangerous
