West Boulder was perfect for three hunters, plenty of beds for 5 (not bunks-but single twins) - great location for hunting, but also great for sightseeing and hiking in the summer. Wouldn't change anything.

We love this cabin and have been coming here for decades. This time the previous visitors left their garbage sack which we had to take with us.Also, the side door handle/lock is broken. We duct-taped the bolt so that it opens. Needs repair or someone will get locked out.We encountered no mice.

I have rented this cabin several times in the past. The last time was about 7 years ago and I have no recollection of it being overly filthy. When we arrived and saw all of the mice feces and nests in addition to the smell of mice dropping we decided not to stay in the cabin and fortunately had our camper with us. I was not willing to haul water from the river and spend several hours cleaning before use. While the "camp site" is lovely the increased fee from $35.00 per night to $75.00 would not be a route I would have chosen. I did have an opportunity to visit with the forest service staff that came to the area and she said that the cabin was in it usual state of cleanliness. I disagree having past experiences with renting. there. While I realize budgets are tight-so is mine and I have to look for outdoor opportunities that are affordable. This was to be a special occasion and I used monies that I had been saving for a long while. I feel that the $300.00ish I spent with reservation.gov was a complete waste of money. I did consider canceling before my reservation and was appalled that the cancelation fee was $95.00!! So I opted to go ahead with the reservation. Too bad-I could have at least gotten some of my money back. I will never rent a cabin again and I really do not like the reservation program that the forest service has gone to. It makes use for local residents almost impossible and I wonder how many reservations are made and never used! Very very dissapointed.

I love this cabin, been here many times but I’m really disappointed how disgusting it was when we arrived. I spent the first hour or so just scrubbing the fridge/freezer out, cleaning up mouse poop (the mouse was dead in the trap so hope it was the only one) and the rest of the mess the previous people left. I didn’t even open up the cupboards, didn’t want to get hantavirus and didn’t have enough paper towels left to clean the microwave or oven. We also picked up a ton of dog poop!!! People need to clean up after themselves and their pets!!!!! Lots of mice squeaking and scratching, at night and early morning….must be in the attic. A bear decided to visit us at our fire so we packed up and left pretty quick, a night early, still left the cabin wayyy cleaner then how we found it. Hope people respect this cabin and be courteous for the next person. Be bear aware, lots of food, cans, wrappers and even eggs in the fire pit.

This is our third time at this cabin. It works well for our family (2 adults, 2 children, 1 dog) because we have meds that require refrigeration, which can be accommodated in this cabin. We were there just after Christmas and in a warm spell following a significant cold snap. There was some ice buildup around the cabin itself, but everything was otherwise as expected. We had some mouse visitors, but to a much smaller degree than other cabins, and there are definitely squirrels in the attic. That being said, we made beef stew on the electric stove, the wood stove worked great, and we had a lovely time exploring around and doing puzzles and reading. Truly one of the best cabin experiences and I'm reluctant to talk it up lest it get even busier than it is.

Absolutely amazing! Cabin was clean, appliances worked, no sign of mice, woodstove threw lots of heat, doors and windows closed up tight. Plenty of wood for the woodstove, and all the tools you could want for splitting more and shoveling out. Had no problems with the locks/combination. Very private location separate from the campground, yet a short walk to the trailhead. Saw a moose in the front yard! A few items I'm REALLY glad we brought: hard-soled slippers and a good water jug for doing the dishes. We had perfect weather while we were there, and the area is beautiful!

Road was a little muddy but we drive right up to the cabin and had an amazing stay. The cabin was right on the river and it was incredibly peaceful.

The West Boulder Cabin is one of the nicest and cleanest forest service cabins I've ever stayed in. The only improvement that I could recommend is a new mop bucket that allow you to squeegee out the mop.

Even though the weather was not the greatest, it was wonderful place. At the end of the road, beautiful setting, what's not to like about this cabin and an added bonus it has electricity.

Nice cabin along the Boulder. Porch is great for hanging out and cabin is roomy. There were only a few people in the campground during our stay- so the cabin felt very secluded. We hiked to the meadows and had to cut our hike short due to grizzly bear sightings. So be bear aware. The spot at the entrance to the meadows made for some great fishing.

@BranJen - Santa Clara, CA

I wanted to thank you for this site and especially for the notifications feature. Thanks to your site and my subscription I was able to book a campsite I've been annoyingly trying to book for 5 years unsuccessfully. So thank you.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
