My 3rd visit/ stay at Crandall over 6 yrs, each time has been great. We always appreciate the previous campers making sure everything was clean & tidy, we leave it the same clean. With extra firewood ready.

I know its a bad time of the year for flies, but this was too much for me and the wife. Sure we could have cleaned the dead flies out but there were just as many flying inside the windows/cabin. And they would be back the next day and flying around all night inside. We never stayed in the cabin and then to only receive a partial refund. Theres no way the people prior to us left it like this or stayed in it. This cabin should be closed down until it is fixed/cleaned. It was a waste of time.

Crandall Creek Cabin is probably the cleanest and most modern of any cabin I’ve ever stayed at. Even the vault toilet has a covered porch. It has 3 sets of bunk beds, huge dining table, and a stove.

We have stayed in this cabin a couple of other times and always enjoy it. The cabin was clean and had some supplies like propane stove and lantern, and a few pots and pans and utensils. There was a nice supply of firewood inside the cabin for the stove that we used to cook on as we didn't bring propane. The cabin is built with like 10" logs or better with six bunk beds and curtains. Whatever the forest service used for flies, it seemed to work. They died on the window sills but weren't annoying. The big difference for us was seeing the cabin in the open whereas it had been snuggled into the trees before. Regardless, the views are beautiful and the stay helped me to disconnect.

The cabin is great! There is huge lack of communication with the forest service, recreation.gov to the renter. There was a huge fire in that area July-August of 2021. Almost burned the cabin down. The pictures on recreation.gov are totally misleading. The fire burned right up to the cabin, thanks to the firefighters who saved the cabin. All the trees are cut down around the cabin. On the information for the cabin, there is a corral for horse, not anymore, it burned down. No communication of this. I called the forest service in Livingston twice and they insured me the corral was good and no mention of fire last year. The forest service and recreation.gov need to talk with the people that are working out in forest to get the correct information. I guess bottom line is, you call the forest service for information and they basically have no clue what is going on.

My family and I XC skied in on March 14th for a night. We were worried there may not be enough snow, but after the first 1/2 mile it was great. We did get our truck stuck in a drift about 4 miles to the cabin...so consider parking when/if you hit a snow drift as they are patchy. We got to the cabin just before a snow storm hit. It took a couple hours for the cabin to warm up, but then it was cozy through the night as we tended to it every few hours. We heard a pack of coyotes that approached the cabin and they ran around it several times, yipping, howling, and barking. It was pretty exciting. A great trip!

Ski in was lovely! We started about 4.5mi from cabin on 3/20. Dead flies littered the sills and floors but were not bothersome after we swept them up. Cabin was otherwise very clean and well kept. Terrific large space, including big table for meals and games. Thank you!

Absolutely gorgeous scenery, on the walk in and at the cabin. We went in Late February, and were prepared to snow shoe in 7 miles, however, it only ended up being 5 miles. Took us about 2 hours. Very clean ang huge cabin. The stove is small so be prepared to have to wake up to feed it every 1.5-2 hours during the night in the winter.

Our small group of six, ages ranged from 7 to 58, and had a great time! It is an easy road to get there and we enjoyed the privacy of the locked gate. We had NO bugs and the cabin was very clean. The higher bunk beds are a little scary, but we all slept well. The facilities were very clean. It had an excellent fire pit area and large tables for cooking, eating and game playing!

I wanted to thank you for this site and especially for the notifications feature. Thanks to your site and my subscription I was able to book a campsite I've been annoyingly trying to book for 5 years unsuccessfully. So thank you.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
