Great place to be wish I could stay longer than 2 weeks considering how empty the campground always is. Close enough for fishing. And if ya need anything Gunnison is just around the bend 10 miles away.

host rage quit right next to my camp calling my family idiots making it very uncomfortable and rangers and police micro manage this location making it almost like there's to peace or privacy feel like i was robbed for the money ...I'm a happy returning camper to this area and leaving not to sure I'll ever want to camp this location again very sad!!!!

We love this campground.

The campsites are generous in size. There just needs to be shade shelters around the picnic tables, as there is absolutely no shade anywhere on the campground. Also, there are showers available at a nearby campground (Lake Fork), but they were not available for use. The visitor's center (at Elk Creek) appears brand new. Why didn't they install showers there instead of large meeting rooms? Otherwise, it was a decent experience. Just be prepared to either drive into town to a nearby community center to purchase a shower.

Tom is the Camphost and is wonderful! He is very friendly and always helpful. He is continuously cleaning the sites and walking around to make sure everything is alright with campers. We have stayed here several days and will definitely be back. Beautiful views of the Blue Mesa lake!

Tom the host was incredible. He made sure all areas were clean and came by to let you know the various activities that were going on, where they were and how to get to them. There was no internet. However, the host gave daily weather and fishing updates. There is a top of the line fish cleaning machine on site. It is absolutely beautiful. Just 15 minutes from town.

Campground seems overgrown. I realize you're trying to encourage natural vegetation, but it appears unkempt.

Beautiful site.

We really enjoyed the camp site, the only thing that we did not enjoy was we had Red Ants at our campsite. We left with alot of bites.

This specific campsite has very little tent space. Most of the campsite is asphalt and intended to be an RV campsite.

Not much there - the lake is low _ so no water access, but plenty of mosquitos at night. the campground is nothing to write home about, just boring - never saw any evidence of a camp host. Drive an other 20 min and stay in a “nice place”

Really beautiful location, campsites are clean, large and not right on top of your neighbor. I enjoyed my stay here.

No creek, no notice boat ramp is closed and no access to water for boat or kayak as the water table is extremely lacking. Barren, no shade; basically a parking lot with numbers for spots. Very misleading name and additional oncoming 65mph wind storm storm made it unsafe to utilize even for an hour. This was to date the worse quality location I’ve visited if u r someone who enjoys camping. Terrible construction delays coming from the west allows limited vehicle access 8-9am, 12-1pm and 5-6pm. A huge waste of time that I understand will continue for 2 more years.

have a s'more, look at the stars, be peaceful. a wonderful place to be. clean bathrooms. available drinking water. no showers. no cell service. try SUPing at the reservoir (rented SUPs in town at Wheelies and Waves). ate out at 5 Bs BBQ, High Alpine Brewing Company, Firebrand Deli, and Tributary Coffee Roasters. all great, will be back.

Great campground and even though close to highway was very quiet. Great fishing at the campground.

I simply used the campsite as an overnight stop. It was very satisfactory for my purposes.
@DavidG598 · Camped on Jul 6, 2021 at Campsite #20A
no shade. Lots of bugs, road noise. If you are looking for a place to stop for the night this is the place for you.

We have camped for 2 different sites. 1A and 5A. 1A is a very good campsite with excellent view. It was a beautiful night for star gazing. Next day, 5A was next to the restroom. The restroom light was on throughout the night and we were not able to see the clear sky. That was disappointing. This campsite would be too hot in the day as there are no trees around.

We stayed at site #9 and the ants were horrible to the point we couldn't be outside without them crawling all over you. The location of the site is wonderful and would love to go back when the ants are not as bad.
@GaryF399 · Camped on Jun 24, 2021 at Campsite #1A
Quiet place to stay with a nice view. No showers and usually too cool to take a "Coke bottle" bath, but nice for a stop along the way. Our host this year was extremely cordial and knowledgeable.
@JayneN517 · Camped on Jun 22, 2021 at Campsite #13A
We ended up not staying here because we found out at the last minute that HWY 50 had daytime road closures and the detour was not an option for us and our RV. We only found out by accident and caused us to re-route our trip. We were very disappointed because this was a stop over we were looking forward to and traveling on 1-70 was the worst road experience I think I have ever had. Hindsight, we should have just taken our chances and waited for the 3 times that the road was open. Wish we could have been alerted to this before hand we may have had more time to prepare, but maybe next time.

@BranJen - Santa Clara, CA

I wanted to thank you for this site and especially for the notifications feature. Thanks to your site and my subscription I was able to book a campsite I've been annoyingly trying to book for 5 years unsuccessfully. So thank you.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
