The road in was in terribe shape. No excuse for letting it go like that regardless of it being under construction soon.I would fire the people in charge. It was that bad.

Great place. Friendly people. Fantastic views! I like the Bear Box at each site to keep items away from bears.

The staff that runs the campground does a great job. Very friendly and helpful.

Even with a bear and twice having a moose walk through our camp site, all was well! Weather was hot! And fishing was OK, but with good friends, excellent week!

Beautiful campsite!! Wish the sockeye run was stronger but still had a great time. Strongly recommend taking the hike to Russian River Falls.Noticed some older reviews saying no AT&T cell reception. Well, they must have put up a new tower nearby. We had 5 bars with AT&T service.

As always, camping was great with annual friends. Fishing very slow, but the bears were plentiful. Will be back next year.

The Russian river has endured many changes over the years. The beetle kill has caused the campground to be thinned out significantly. The road into the campground has been under construction for two years and will be a huge improvement. The worst part of the Russian River is the reservation system. Its almost impossible to get a campsite. This really needs to be looked at to ensure its fair for all. Also, take a look at the number of empty camp spots during high peak times. Please fix the reservation system! Sincerely.

I would otherwise give a 5- star rating, but the salmon fishing was poor, but that's the way it goes some years.Here's something that really concerns me about the reservation system with this campground, as a person who lives in the area and has come here nearly every year for the past 30 years: it is now very difficult to secure a campsite for the popular salmon fishing seasons on the Rec.gov website, six months in advance. The site get reserved within seconds of becoming available. And yet when the campground is open for the desirable fishing dates nearly 20% of the sites are vacant! The person who has the reservation doesn't show up!

I have been recreating at the Russian River campground since it's inception, some 50yrs+.The vegetation remediation project has been one of the most successful I have seen. The riverside is absolutely gorgeous with all the ferns and other vegetation. Truly magical to share with my daughter, the next generation that I hope will be able to enjoy as much as I have. The sites are well maintained, the new fire pits are wonderful and the outhouses are well maintained. I understand operating costs for these elements and am obliged to contribute. The Russian River gets very crowded when the sockeye are in season and this can be tricky to have a pleasant experience, but I know the beauty of the river outweighs any negativity those that are impatient can impose. Keep up the improvements and God save the sockeye!

Went before the crowds came and enjoyed a quiet experience along the boardwalk. Usually camp during high season, so this was even more peaceful.

Nothing was working, no water, no dump, no trash removal. Trees all cut down, looked like wastland

When we arrived to the gate on June 1, the first day the campground was supposed to be open. It was unmanned and signs were posted that the campground was closed, that there was no trash service, and that the dump station was unavailable. Mind you, we had reservations that were made months in advance. There were many other RVers who were visibly upset as were we. We made numerous phone calls to the Seward Ranger District and other forest service numbers, but it was a Saturday, so they went unanswered. We saw most campers drive away. We decided to drive up to the campground as the gate was open. We went to our reserved site and enjoyed a nice quiet weekend. Only one or two other campers took a chance like us. However, the pit toilets had not been pumped and were over full. The bathrooms were disgusting and the campground had not even been open since last season. I finally got a call a few days later from Seward Ranger District. He said he thought the campground was open - it should have been, he said - but someone must have forgotten to take the closed signs down. I said there were many upset people who could have possibly come from a long way off who drove away without a campsite. He didnt seem too concerned and said hed check into it. The whole experience was uncalled for and almost ruined our trip. All because someone forgot to take down the closed signs. Also I dont understand why the toilets hadnt been pumped and the bathrooms cleaned. Unacceptable to say the least!!!

The new fire pits didn't give off as much heat than the older version that were 90 degree. The new ones sent the heat upwards, but I assume are much safer. Overall, very organized, well communicated by email, and check in was smooth. The camping experience was terrific.

Very nice campground, separated sites, quiet. We expected it to be crowded, but it did not feel that way at all.

I have stayed at Russian River on 6 different trips and it has always been a great experience. My only complaint this trip is the group across from us ran their RV generator 24/7 the entire week. At first I thought it was because somebody in their party had a medical condition(no big deal) then the last day I realized the reason they were running it was to power a freezer for their fish

Facilities are good, River access is good and bank protection efforts appreciated. That said, the road in to the campground is horrible and has been that way for many years. Plus apparently the water is off at the dump station and fresh water fill station. Love this campground but it seems to go downhill every year we come up to Alaska.

@BranJen - Santa Clara, CA

I wanted to thank you for this site and especially for the notifications feature. Thanks to your site and my subscription I was able to book a campsite I've been annoyingly trying to book for 5 years unsuccessfully. So thank you.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
