Quiet, large campsites with sufficient bushes between them to create a visual barrier, and clean outhouses made my stay most enjoyable.

Good site, nice trails nearby, but no service - make sure you download your trail maps. Not much space to setup a tent on our site, its tailored more to RVs. Bathrooms were decently clean for a vault toilet. No sinks or sanitizer for your hands, so bring your own.

This was our favorite stay this summer! Super close to the Portage visitor center and on the Blue Ice Trail. Sites were well laid out and plenty of room between. We are already planning another camp trip there again next summer.

This is one of the finest campgrounds we have stayed in. It was clean. The sites were level and private (as much as one can get in a campground). The trails were well marked and picturesque.

It was a rainy time. Nice separate campsites. Host was friendly

Beautiful well-spaced and accessible campsites. Minutes away from Portage Glacier VC and the Whittier access tunnel. We did both. Enjoy!

The maps for the campground were well made and accurate. The sites had plenty of vegetation between sites that we didn't feel like we were always being watched by our neighbors. The mosquitoes weren't as bad as we expected. There was plenty of room at our site for our slide-out to work.

The campground itself is one of the best in Alaska. it is also one of my personal favorites. Having said that, I would like to voice my observations from my stay this year. We typically like to camp here in late May or early June when the weather is nice, the fiddlehead ferns are blooming, and there is still some snow to play in. This year the campground was a total mess with filthy campsites, mud, spruce needles, last years moldy leaves, and overall very difficult to camp in without trashing everything we stepped on. I understand it is a rainforest and prone to these conditions but it would be nice if the park service could clean up some of the debris, sweep out the sites, clean up all the downed tree branches that were laying everywhere! The bike trails had numerous trees and bushes that were mostly if not completely blocking some of the trails. I stopped and removed as many as I could so we could ride. All of this should have been taken care of before the campground opened! Other than that, we still enjoyed the beauty there, and had the opportunity to see a black bear 3 feet from our camper door! He was continually roaming the campground looking for an easy meal. We will be back to this campground, it is lovely, just clean the place up before it opens!

Quiet, pretty secluded site. Plenty of room. River is right behind. Visitor Center is interesting.

We were there for barely 15 hours as we were passing through. The privacy and distance between campsites was great. The picnic table was new and large.The only issue we had was finding the driveway as it was not well marked or lit. We arrived at 11pm after dark and a long drive from Denali. It was raining and frustrating that the only sign was the street number on the right side of the road. We passed it and had to circle back. Why isnt there a sign thats lit with the name of the campground?

Williwa is a beautiful campground with clean pit toilets. Campground hosts do a wonderful job keeping it clean. To make this the perfect campground would require cell phone connectivity. We have Verizon and it doesnt work here.

The campground was clean and beautiful. I would recommend it to any camper who loves a rustic setting.

Very nice campground in the woods. Space was larger than expected. All sites have heavy duty picnic tables with wheel chair access to them. Various hiking trails are accessible from the campground as well as a fish viewing site (although no fish seen this time of year). Close to Whittier as well as the visitor center. Would stay here again if in the area. We had reservations although there are first come, first sites available. There appeared to be some sites available each day we were there.

Clean bathrooms, beautiful spot, close to visitor center. We only stayed one night because it was raining so hard so we moved to a different location. Plenty of privacy . We hiked Byron Glacier and Portage Pass with 3 little kids in the rain! Amazing experiences will be back!

No problems with the camping trip. LOVED the new picnic table installed within the last two weeks. Bathrooms were very clean. They spray painted the water pump while we were there. They are doing a lot of improvements! The hosts came by to check on us during our stay. Best trip there ever!

@BranJen - Santa Clara, CA

I wanted to thank you for this site and especially for the notifications feature. Thanks to your site and my subscription I was able to book a campsite I've been annoyingly trying to book for 5 years unsuccessfully. So thank you.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
