Labor Day Weekend, with popup and tent. Good time. Believe what they say about not using steep gravel road up from Benton; we made it, but barely. Come up from Ocoee Ranger Station and see great overlooks along the paved road. Swimming and Kayaking with our own boat good in lake near campground. Trail maps and signs are a bit confusing; there are signs, but hard to tell what trail they point to. Benton Falls, a popular destination, is not even on the signs, just the various trail names and numbers. Main complaint is about no-show campers, not the fault of campground. Area was sold out for weekend, we barely got a reservation, and then found numerous empty sites. Host said yes, they are technically now available, but they don't offer them because if the person finally shows, a day late, they get cranky. Sign was posted at Ocoee saying "all sites are full." Tent area with about 20 sites was completely empty, but apparently not counted by park, as they are not reservable, but are good sites. Appeared there would always be space. Biggest rigs don't come as much because of steep road and no water-sewer hookups. There are faucets along the road, and a dump station. Some electric. Nice almost new shower houses at campground and lake.

Great campground! Most of the spots are level and large with great tree coverage in between the camping spots.

We have stayed at several campgrounds this season and Chilhowee is by far our favorite. Beautiful area. Clean showers and bathrooms. A big bonus is the LoopA camp host. They have been awesome in answering questions and just being a friendly face. We will definitely be staying again.

Another wonderful trip to the top of the mountain. Campground wasn't overcrowded which makes the days and nights quiet and more relaxing. Plenty of shade over our site so the hot days were pleasant to sit and relax. The best thing about our trip was we was not bothered by the forest service. Actually, I didn't even see any forest service trucks all week other than the ones servicing campground garbage.

The fish where constantly nipping at us which was the only bad thing. Outside that the campgrounds and facilitys are beautiful and well maintained.

lots of hiking areas, and the waterfall is worth the trip. Nice, quiet, and wooded campground. We plan to come back :) we loved how isolated the sites were with a few that were close enough to each other for families to share.

I really enjoyed my time at the campground. It was clean and the facilities were close by. There was a loud garbage ? truck that came through at 4-4:30 in the morning that was disruptive.

Always a great camping experience up on the hill at Chilhowee

Overall, it was a good trip. The hot water heater was out in our bathhouse for two days. The bathhouses are in need of a major upgrade. Other than that, the park was beautiful as always.

A tornado had come through the area, and the forest the morning of my reserved camping. No electric, no water, no restroom admittance upon arrival. Port-a-potties were being brought in for all campers. Water was restored by 6pm. Electric service was restored the following day.

The power was off for the first three days, no showers second day they brought portable toilets. The host was doing their best to accommodate campers but I thought I should get a partial refund for the days without power.

The campsite was the cleanest Ive ever camped on. I couldnt even find a corner torn from a ketchup packet. The bathroom/shower house was very cleaned and stocked with paper and soap. Looking forward to my next visit.

The site was clean and the campground was beautiful. Can't wait to come back again. Thankful for grounds keepers that care about how it looks.

I enjoyed the spacing between campsites in the D loop. The men's room could use a little attention. The handicapped seat in one of the showers was barely hanging on the wall and it didn't allow for the bench to stay up and out of the way making it impossible to be under the shower head in that stall. A hand soap dispenser at the sinks would be great as well. This part is probably impossible but extending the time that water comes out when the button is pushed would be helpful. Maybe from the current 5 seconds to 10.

I loved it here, it was truly off the beaten path with amazing views. This campground is literally on top of a mountain. I wasnt sure what to expect from the pictures but the elevation of the campground is much higher than I would have expected. We spent 4 days here and I dont have a critique. We spent Sunday night there and the park had pretty much cleared out but us. My only recommendation is bring more lights than you think, it was very dark with us being the only ones in the park and admittedly we got a little scared because it was too quiet haha. I didnt have service (T-Mobile) but my husband did (Verizon) just as a heads up.

Bathrooms need to be checked more often. Mens restroom (loop F) had no toilet paper from Saturday evening through Sunday morning. Other than that it was a good experience.

We throughly enjoyed our stay .it was great weather lots of wildlife if you know where to look .things i dont like the ocoee district is not managed as well or kept as well as the the tellico district never have understood that its all cherokee national forest .to much emphasis is put on the ocoee river and its rafting always has and im sure always will .now that that the whitewater center has burnt which the fisherman had to anity up for by way of having to pay to park on the side of the road just to fish i would say they tryin to figure out how to get all the people that hike fish or use the cherokee forest for any reason other than rafting to flip the bill again to pay to rebuild it .all said camp ground was great bathrooms could be cleaner .host was great .only concern was we seen people coming to campground to use the showers that were not campers and not necessarily the kind of people you would want to turn your back on i guess not leave anything loose that could be stold i dont think they need to be in there

We camped in a 37' motorhome, loop E site 54. The site was spacious, quiet, level with plenty room for our RV. But, getting there and leaving was difficult even with the tow vehicle disconnected. We had to back up on turns, drive over wooden site barriers to get out of the site. The 18 miles of paved road to the campground was narrow and winding. I would not return here with our large RV.

@BranJen - Santa Clara, CA

I wanted to thank you for this site and especially for the notifications feature. Thanks to your site and my subscription I was able to book a campsite I've been annoyingly trying to book for 5 years unsuccessfully. So thank you.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
