We love this campground for the beauty of the area and the nice sites. We also appreciate how hard the staff works to keep the bathrooms clean!

The restrooms are very clean and the staff is truly so sweet, this is my 3 years and I always come back love it so peaceful and the walk to the lake is so easy

$44 for the site for one night was too much. The restrooms were filthy and there was no soap or paper towels in any of them. Noro Virus is a real problem and by not having soap available you are asking for an outbreak and the spread of the virus.

Beautiful campground with large sites(not all but many!) walking distance to Fallen Leaf Lake and a short drive to Lake Tahoe. All of the workers are extremely friendly and helpful, especially Cody, one of the camp hosts; he's the best!

Fallen Leaf lake is perfect for swimming. The campground does not allow slack lines, that was disappointing to have to take it down as that information is not posted anywhere around the campground or on the website. There seemed to be no enforcement of quiet time rules in the area we were staying.

Great, clean campground! We were there for one night and saw two bears in the first couple hours, other campers were great scaring them away and everyone seemed to be keeping very clean camps, which we love to see in bear country!

Very horrible experience & very poorly ran park. They let the bears run around wild & prefer the bears fed. Someone is going to get very hurt especially almost my children. When someone came and saved my children and my lit barbecue the bear was going for, they removed the man from the park. He was literally preventing a forest fire and saving little children. I do NOT recommend this park to anyone. Something needs to be done here.

Keep in mind that you're in bear country, so there's no need for constant horn honking or shoutingit can get tiresome quickly. Regular campers mentioned how they often shake their heads at the overreactions of some visitors. While bears did visit the area daily, they were simply in search of food. Just be responsible and store yours properly. Aside from that, the location was beautiful, and the camp hosts were incredibly friendly. Fallen Leaf Lake is absolutely magical!

Really well run campground!
@KristinA458549 · Camped on Aug 23, 2024 at Campsite #118
The campsites were far enough apart to feel spacious but also, lots of bears. We loved the experience. Most of the camp hosts were super sweet, helpful and funny. Close enough to town to run and get supplies but also, far out in nature. Would definitely go back.

Excellent experience accept for registering for a site. Gate should be able to assign and take payment for empty sites. We had to drive over 20 minutes away to use internet to extend our stay. Too stupid.

Excellent campground. With great personnel. I had a great experience from start to finish. Loved that you can walk to the lake from your campsite. Lots of bear activity! So be sure to store your food properly!

Nice large campsites and now they have a RV dump.
@MarshallHE4AC1 · Camped on Aug 18, 2024 at Campsite #122
Very handy to have a dump station onsite. The 1/2 mile approach desperately needs repairs and widening. It's just a bunch of potholes glued together.

We were greeted by great park staff at check in. They advised us of current bear activity. So we put our open foods in the Bear box overnight, we could hear the bears banging around late at night in the Campground. The park is well kept. We got another ranger tip the next day about a trail to the Lake, the view was amazing!

Site was very clean and cozy. Toilets are also very clean.Bears are highly active in the campground. We woke up to one growling right outside the tent.

One of the best campsites in California!

Beautiful campground, spacious spots and quiet. Definite very active bear activity, though.

Love this campaign for its location and the lake.
@MeganJ7250639 · Camped on Aug 12, 2024 at Campsite #155
Gorgeous campground on a quiet lake. Beware do bears. Saw multiple just walking through the campground during evenings. The people who work at the camp dont make it easy. I was questioned multiple times about my tow vehicle and even checked the front to ensure it was indeed a tow. Kind of insulting.
@PatP4583844 · Camped on Aug 12, 2024 at Campsite #159
Be bear knowledgeable. The bears sniffed around our campground about 3 or 4 times, but weren't interested in humans. The bears only wanted whatever food we may have left on the picnic table or if there was food in our gear.

One of my favorite camping destinations. Clean, spacious, nearby lakes, many hikes to explore. Will be back again.
@StevenP6378402 · Camped on Aug 12, 2024 at Campsite #113
We stayed at #113 for 4 nights and the site has pretty good privacy and it was close to the restroom. The restroom was very clean and you can tell the someone cleans it every morning. The camp host was very close to our site which makes us feel safe with the bear and our camping equipment. The shower facility was a little further than I like but it was also clean and roomy not like others you just get a stall.No laundry on site but there is so many of them less than 10 minutes drive from campground. No dish washing station, so bring extra pan to wash your dish at your camp site.Other than the above mentioned, Lake Tahoe is just so nice to visit and so beautiful. All we did was going to the beach relax and watch kids play in water.

Beautiful site with a very large parking area (2 large vehicles would fit easily). A bit of a steep hill down to the site from the parking area.The site sits on a meadow, and you can pitch your tent right on the edge of it. Bears came out to forage every morning and early evening. They never came near our site, but it was fun watching them.Its a short walk to the bathroom/shower and directly across from the trailhead that leads to Fallen Leaf Lake. The site has some shade. The campground was quiet and off the beaten pathaway from the craziness of the South Lake Tahoe beaches. Definitely the best campground in South Lake Tahoe.

@BranJen - Santa Clara, CA

I wanted to thank you for this site and especially for the notifications feature. Thanks to your site and my subscription I was able to book a campsite I've been annoyingly trying to book for 5 years unsuccessfully. So thank you.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
