This place was awesome!! It was our first time, but wont be the last. The cabin came equipped with all your necessities, including plenty of board games and all the cookware youd need. It was super clean and came with several previous guest books which gave us the insight of how others had spent their time as well. It was fun reading everyones entries! The air strip was occupied by firefighters and gave our kiddo plenty of entertainment during the evening when they were all arriving back at base by waving and turning on their lights. Highly recommend this little piece of heaven!

The screens on the doors and windows need replacing, and the small bedroom window needs to be fixed. Mattress covers on the beds would be greatly appreciated because the beds are full of bugs and mice droppings.This is a beautiful place but needs some work and would help if others left it cleaner than the way they found it!Also, the lock for the gate was missing.Would be nice also if they could get all the sleeping bags, and all the other junk out of the closets and dressers so a person could use them and maybe stop the mice from using it as bedding materials.The bathroom located behind the house was very clean and had no unpleasant odors.Bonniville hot springs is a wonderful place to spend the day relaxing. Enjoy your stay at this beautiful location.

This was our 10th year of visiting the WSGS. We absolutely love this piece of heaven on earth. I call this my break from life's chaos. We have one more trip already booked for October. We are obsessed with how amazing this little cabin is.. Don't walk, run to get your reservation now! You won't be sorry!

Very lovely place, wish the water was on so we didnt have to fish it out of the river for cleaning. Otherwise its beautiful area, the fireplace kept the whole house toasty, and the firepit was used every night and morning.

Folks need to be reminded, refill the split wood closet.

Did not have the best experience this time around. The directions say that the woodshed should be unlocked after Dec 15th and it was not so we could not cut any kindling. Fortunately there was a bag of charcoal that we could use to start the wood stove. NO DISHWASHING LIQUID!!!! So it was uncomfortable to think of what conditions the dishes that we ate out of were in. We used lysol spray to wash them and rinsed with boiled snow water. They want you to pick up dog waste but nothing to pick it up with. It is impossible to pick up dog poop that has frozen into the ice with a bag or anything else but some kind of shovel. Some HUGE critter living in the walls and ceiling... which is to be expected, but this was not mice. A little more often upkeep would make this an amazing experience every time.

Pleasantly surprised to find a propane stove and frig in the cabin, as it's not mentioned in the features for the cabin. Nice, clean and comfortable. Also, there's no cell service, but there is a lan line phone in the cabin. Came in handy, as we had a family incident that we were contacted on, via the lan line.

Funky old guard station, we rented this during the off spring season so it was fairly quiet. in the mornings we sat on the front porch and had our coffee. one morning we had several small planes fly overhead and land at the air field just above the cabin. the cabin could use some fixing up but we enjoyed our stay and definitely stay again.

Had a great time. Only issue is firewood. There was enough for us but can't see the wood lasting more than maybe 1 month? You should check on this with the Lowman ranger district office if you are going after January 1. The only source of heat is the wood burning stove. No firewood, no heat, no fun.

Unfortunately, after coming to this cabin all these years and loving every minute, we had a pretty bad experience. Just after arriving, my wife went to open the front gate to go out and the gate. The gate with the post and the two adjacent log rails fell onto her leg causing a terrible skin tear that peeled the skin all the way down her shin. The log fence/gate post had rotted out from the base and apparently had been closed and propped up by rocks by the previous visitors. We had to make an emergency exit to get her some first aid. We are still going through healing with visits to the wound clinic.

Yet another wonderful trip and all thanks to WSGS and our lovely forest service people! I can’t and won’t ever stop raving about this place enough, and I hope this gem is able to stay in the cabin-community for debates to come. We will continue doing our part in keeping this gem alive, and it’s our honor to put in the extra work whenever it’s needed for the upcoming visitors. Eat your heart out AirBnB ;-) -D & M

Payette River access is available at two locations: one near the cabin, the other further down the road. Very beautiful turquoise pools, and, when river is low, ability to walk along river’s edge. There are multiple fire rings at each location.

This was our 4th year now staying here and my family loves it! Next renter, bring a can opener and fresh dish towels, those were the only things missing.

A gem among so many FS cabins that have been neglected. Wood stove heats it up nicely. Clean and charming. We intend to come back often.

@BranJen - Santa Clara, CA

I wanted to thank you for this site and especially for the notifications feature. Thanks to your site and my subscription I was able to book a campsite I've been annoyingly trying to book for 5 years unsuccessfully. So thank you.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
