We really enjoyed our time at this campsite. It was really quiet the first night, as it got closer to the weekend it got busier. There were a ton of flies, and an unusually high number of wasps, but no mosquitos which was a plus! The campsite is dusty but overall this was a beautiful campground! The road up wasn't bad at all, we were able to tow our pop up no problem. There was a good amount of shade, several ways to get down to the water to play, and a hand crank pump for water, which was nice and cold. Would love to stay here again.

Love the campground! Easy access to the river. Stayed at site #9 with a 28ft travel trailer...it was quite difficult to park with all the boulders, not enough room to turn the trailer and the truck, ended up running over the top of a boulder (I'm not a bad driver lol) but once in it was great! The water pump is a challenge. Not an actual pump but a crank so a lot of work to get 5 gallons of water - I chalk it up to good arm exercise. :) for trailering I recommend site #1 (also for access to be swimming) and site #2 - easy in easy out. The vault toilet was clean and didn't have a nasty odor I have sometimes experienced. The road in is bit rough but drive slow and you will be fine. I hope to stay there again soon.

The campground itself was very nice. Spot #3 was probably the best we seen there. So much room for being a single spot. Thankfully I read reviews prior to learn the bathroom is always out of toilet paper, so we brought our own. Good thing too, because it was out the whole time we were there. My only draw back to this campground was all the dogs running around off leash and wondering in to our campsite. Thankfully my dog WAS leashed and with someone at all times. Other issues were the running of the generators at 7am till almost midnight. Wasn't fun being woken up so early. This campground needs a camp host. If this happened, I think we would stay here again. Area was great and not that bad of a drive to get to. Also a good thing to know, this campground doesn't have garbage service. You pack it in, you pack it out.

The campers before us at site #6 left their bag of garbage that we had to haul out. We noticed the dirt road was widened in places. Thx for that. The experience was excellent. We will be back next year.

We have been going to Black Rock for over 10 years. We like it because it is close to home and far enough away . There are no electric hookups so it keeps it like a boondocking experience. There is a water pump for fresh drinking water and a vaulted type toilet.Just a good place to camp

Blackrock is a great campground with easy access to the river. It is 20 miles down FS 327, which is not paved. But we took it with our travel trailer and did not have an issue. The entrance seems steep and narrow, but it is manageable. The sites are pretty well spread out. For RVs, I would recommend not staying in the first 3 sites as they are small and have lots of obstacles.

Facility was clean and peaceful, however the restrooms on Sunday were out of Toilet Paper And the biggest thing was the water had to much Chlorine to be used for drinking. There needs to be a warning on the reservation website about this. Many people use this water source while camping in the area as well as in Blackrock.

Pretty nice. Takes a hot minute to pump your water from the well but otherwise a fantastic campground. Fishing was good but the fish were small.

Our family stayed in camp site number 3. We were pleased! It was not close to other campers. Shade all day in different spots, and large enough for our big tent. The bathrooms were clean for vault toilets. Well water worked just fine, and a quick walk to the river to splash around.

Clean and quiet. We were there mid week and had no issues. Lots of space and great river access.

Very quiet and nice campground. We stayed 3 nights each of two weeks. #9 and #11. Beautiful setting and these 2 were close to the North Fork of the Boise and very soothing sounds. There was one deer that would visit the campground off and on. the Ponderosa Pines in the area are pretty and again not a lot of people. Both times there maybe 2 to 3 other campers but not for very long.

Clean and well maintained. Road was fairly smooth going in.

Black Rock Campground was easy to get to in about 1.5 hours from the Boise area. The campground is small (11 sites) but nicely arranged with pit toilet and water crank pump station. Site 11 was nice and overlooked the North Fork Boise River. Shade was available until about 1 pm but the late afternoon sun was brutal until about 7 pm when the sun set behind the ridge. Suggest bringing a pop up canopy for this site. Plenty of downed pine sections available for firewood...but bring a splitting wedge and sledge hammer. Pit toilet was generally clean and had some paper...suggest bringing your own just in case. We did not see any snakes...but did get some enjoyment one morning watching a black bear forage on berry bushes across the river from us. Not many campers present when we were there, but folks were friendly, quiet, and kept to themselves. Spent the day fly fishing a 15 mi stretch of the river upstream from the campground. Rainbows were small (6 - 10"), but eager to take a fly all day long. Top flies were elk hair caddis, salmon fly, rubber leg stonefly nymphs, and zebra midges.

Black rock is great campground. Camp sites are not very close together. There are sites close to the river, which is very mild flowing later in the season. Not too much wildlife, some bugs, not bad. It is my home away from home.

Loved this campground. Secluded, quiet, clean, and right by the river! Our spot had good shade but not all of them do. Will definitely camp here again.

It took about an hour on a dirt road to get there, but it was worth it. The site was clean and we were right next to the the river. The other campers were quiet and friendly. Lots of places to explore.

Great spot along the river. Campground was small and quiet.

Lots of room. Gorgeous area.

Road in 327 was freshly graded, still a 20 mile an hour drive but not jarring. Campgrounds were clean and new trees fallen by the forest service for firewood. But bring something to spit the rounds they leave

Great campsite, clean bathroom and beautiful area. We enjoyed our stay here!

Lovely site! We enjoyed it. Bathrooms and picnic tables were used by non-campers and utv folks just stopping by and they left seat up so flies got bad. But other than that it was great.

A little tricky to find. More signs along the dirt road would have been helpful because we lost service on google maps! Once you get there is is a stunning location and well worth the drive in through winding dirt road. Really amazing spot, will be back now that we know where it is!!

Great spot. I saw others reviews talking about the long gravel drive. That portion took us about 45 minutes from Idaho city. It didn’t bother us much, its well maintained. The site was great, very spacious and not even busy for a July weekend. Its right on the river with easy access for throwing rocks with the kids. We will be back!

@BranJen - Santa Clara, CA

I wanted to thank you for this site and especially for the notifications feature. Thanks to your site and my subscription I was able to book a campsite I've been annoyingly trying to book for 5 years unsuccessfully. So thank you.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
