Clean restrooms and a well-maintained campground.

Peaks of Otter is a good campground. Camp store is quite small but they do have some essentials (firewood and firestarters were all we needed). The bathroom got a little messy and ran out of toilet paper while we were there (it was Labor Day Weekend). The campground was clean and mostly quiet. There is no utility sink or place to dump waste water from dishes. Campsite B14 is a good site. It's very close to the bathroom but not so close that the light is bothersome. You do see a lot of campers on their way to the bathroom but that's OK. The spot for your tent is perfectly level. The site has a table, fire ring, and bear box. There is plenty of shade. I do not think you could fit more than one tent at this site unless they were small backpacking tents.

Our campsite was lovely! We were located fairly close to the bathrooms. We could hear loud vehicles from the highway, but that didn't keep several deer from wandering close by. The bathrooms were vintage and without lights, but adequate. The yard crew descended on our camping loop around 7:30 the next morning. I know they were just doing what had to be done, but it was unfortunate.

Steps mentioned in earlier review are repaired and appear new. Site somewhat unlevel but it is with a dip in the middle so good positioning means level is not a problem. Very nice campground. Under utilized when we were there in August. Fully shaded site.

Lovely campground. I use a tent, and the pad was flat and held stakes well. Campground is wooded and beautiful. Lots of deer. Bear boxes everywhere. The Sharp top mountain trail (ascending to the Peaks of Otter) was practically attached to the campground. My only advice is to select your site as far away from the road, as there was some traffic noise in the night. Staff was really helpful when I checked in.

This is a great campground and glad to have found it. So far sites have been easy to reserve and it hasnt been too crowded. The tent side is much quieter without any generators allowed.

Peaks of Otter campground is a hidden gem along the Blue Ridge Mountains! The campground was quiet, despite it being a summer weekend, and walking distance to so many beautiful hikes and sights. The campsite host Stanley and his coworker were accommodating, knowledgeable about the area, and super friendly. We will be back!

Beautiful campground. Water pressure low so toilets wouldnt flush.

When arriving the ranger helped us find our spot and showed us some trails nearby. Our campsite was easily accessible and nicely placed. It is definitely near wildlife and right off the parkway. The bathroom were nice, along with our fire pit. Definitely recommend!

One of the most beautiful areas in Virginia, Peaks of Otter campground is one of our favorites. Rangers were helpful and the bathroom was clean.

Beautiful shady RV site.

Site A22. Near level and close to the bathroom, but the parking pad is right next to the adjacent camp site parking.

execellent place, and beautiful nature around

Great campground. Sites are close to each other (if that's important to you.) Felt safe as a solo/female camper. Convenient location, nearby lodge, trails, camp store, and visitor center; all while maintaining a pretty "remote" feel.

The views around the lake and from the top of the mountain can't be beat. The campground is quiet and comfortable. We stayed during peak leaf season and there were plenty of sites available.

Not a good campground. Spots are very small, which is typical of the old CCC built campgrounds but this one is different. I was in spot T08, rated for RVs, and my 12-foot teardrop camper barely fit. Any bigger and you'd be blocking the road. Also there's no little trails to the restrooms. I've never seen that at a campground before. Unless you're spot is the one right next to the restrooms, then you have no access without walking through that person's site (not advised). Otherwise, Ranger at check-in was very nice. Nearby lake is very pretty. Good basecamp if you want to summit the mountains.

Nice and quiet due to the end of the season. We enjoyed our time very much.

This is a great location! You are right next to the Sharp Top trailhead, three other great hikes, and the Peaks of Otter Visitor Center. The staff at check-in were friendly and the bathrooms were clean and stocked. We car-camped to catch the fall leaves - but fall also means falling acorns all night long! Amazing experience, I'm sure I'll be back!

Micromanagement by the worst Rangers. Literally, the two on duty could not go by the campsite without giving some kind of remark. The annual family camping trip to this campground (for several years) used to be relaxing. Felt more like prison thanks to the two on duty!

The campground was good. Staff was great. The lodge next door was convenient. We did see a bear. He walked right thru our campsite. It was around 10:00am the next morning just after we packed up and was getting ready to leave.

Couldnt choose any rating below already entered 5 stars I wanted to rate it two stars. Sites very small and not even close to level. No easy way to get to bathroom and the water spigot; had to walk way around! Most sites, had to walk either up or down steps to get to the picnic table. No wood for sale on site, had to drive to separate store off site. I do not recommend unless you are desperate and can get a site near the restroom and water spigot.

nice older camp ground no showers look like they are starting to fix some of the sights, could use larger parking. we did the natural bridge and the cravens

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Peaks of Otter campground on Sept 4, 2023. The campground was easy to find, right off the Blue Ridge Parkway, the sites are private, the bath house was very clean, and the park ranger and Stanley, the park host, were extremely helpful. They both went out of their way to be accommodating, and even provided information to help us avoid a low tunnel on the Skyline Dr. We'll definitely go back.

@BranJen - Santa Clara, CA

I wanted to thank you for this site and especially for the notifications feature. Thanks to your site and my subscription I was able to book a campsite I've been annoyingly trying to book for 5 years unsuccessfully. So thank you.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
