Located right on the Blue Ridge Parkway. Clean, fairly level sites. Clean restroom. Great hiking from the campground. The Bluffs Restaurant is in hiking distance.

There were no campers here, no staff, our tent site was taped off and there was a broken table top across from it. There are road closers on either side of this campground on the Blueridge Parkway making it difficult to get to or away from. :(

Park was very clean. Rangers friendly. Campers quiet and respectful of others space.

I think it was the best campground out of the 5 I stopped at on my recent trip. Very well maintained.

Went very late October. Tent camped. Was -very- quiet. Campground near empty. One of my goals was to set up portable telescope in an open, lightless area. Found one very convenient spot and another that would have required more of a walk.

The site was easy to access, apart from seasonal road closures which I was made aware of beforehand. Directions and maps around the campsite were great. Water was accessible, and bathrooms were good. My parking spot even had a little card with my name on it--luxurious!

Just a beautiful campground especially for those looking for a National campground experience. A bit more effort to get there due to the road construction on the Blue Ridge Parkway but well worth it. We stayed three nights in October.

Conveniently located on the Blue Ridge Parkway and good rate. Campground has a dumpstation, dumpster and potable water. Sites are tight due to the age of the campgrounds on the parkway but we knew that beforehand. Never saw the camphost although there was a camper and vehicle in the host's site. Didn't use the restroom so can't speak to its cleanliness. Our fire ring had not been cleaned and the grate couldn't be moved (not sure if it was due to rust or age).

Due to road Construction North and South of Doughton Campground prevented me from enjoying the site.

Great campground with amazing trails. Bathrooms were sufficient and it was not crowded at all.

The campground host was very helpful. When we lost power to our RV, he offered to charge our batteries and loan us a propane bottle for the night so we would have heat and prepare a hot meal. It is not often that a camp host at a national park is that caring about the campers. His friendliness made our stay very enjoyable, The RV sites are mostly level and their are plenty of first come sites. The only down side is the campground is in need of maintenance and repair. Currently the Parkway is closed north and south of Doughton Park due to paving the Parkway. The closure makes it a 45 minute to one hour detour to rejoin the parkway. Hopefully the paving project is only a start in the updating of this national treasure.

I loved this campground. So quiet, especially since the Parkway is closed. We had A1, which was right next to the Parkway so it might be a little noisier during the day when the parkway is open. Very clean, lots of level spaces. We were in an RV. The tent sites for the most part looked nice also.

Nice campground that has plenty of non-electric, tent-only sites for peace and quiet. The ranger at the campground was very nice and helpful. The bathrooms are adequate, but it would be so nice to have updated bathrooms with showers!!

it seemed like the lawn needed some maintenance. found a tick on me after just walking through the grass from the parking spot to where the tent goes. I wouldn't come back.

A one night stay, but we'll be back, such a nice place and area. Made the effort to support the park during the current road closures north and south. Ranger Peggy Bailey most helpful. The road from Laurel Springs to park needs immediate help, hope they can fix that too.

My husband and I camped here for 2 weeks and we love it!!! This is probably our favorite campground on the Parkway followed closely by Linville. We had a great, relaxing time! The campground host Bubba is awesome!! They kept the grass nicely mowed as well. The only complaint is that they put all the new new picnic tables on the tent side which is not used much at all. They did replace 5 in the RV loop but they could have replaced more since this side is used way more than the tent side!

The scenery is beautiful and the staff was great. The campground itself is in disrepair. Many of the campsites were in the middle of tall grass and the tent pads were completely grown over. The bathrooms are not good. There is very little light in them and the light fixtures barely work.

This is the most beautiful park and campground on the entire BRP. The Rangers, the setting, the Brinegar Cabin, the cleanliness of the restrooms, the host - it was all great. A visit to Sparta is recommended. We got to attend the 30th Anniversary of the Allegheny Jubilee - old time music, flat foot and clogging dancing by people aged 4 - 90. Muddy Creek Cafe has great food, and there are several very good craft shops - Magum-Cater on Main being especially impressive. The Mountain to Sea Trail runs through the park and it and other trails are outstanding. Rangers Peggy Baily, Jackie Rupp and Casey Gunther were each well-versed in the history of the area, both human and natural, and shared resources readily. Go see for yourself!

We used one of the older sites that has not been renovated, the concrete table could use a pressure wash, the rest was in good shape. Adding showers to the campground should increase the occupancy, otherwise it was sad to see such a good place to have only 4-5 sites occupied out of 100+ available. Parkway closure on both sides may play a role in this, as well as the state of the road, there are a lot of potholes that need to be fixed.

@BranJen - Santa Clara, CA

I wanted to thank you for this site and especially for the notifications feature. Thanks to your site and my subscription I was able to book a campsite I've been annoyingly trying to book for 5 years unsuccessfully. So thank you.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
