One of the most beautiful lakes we camped in AZ.

Good spot unless it rains. The hill next to it drains through camp site. Filled up the fire pot and made a muddy mess. Hosts were good. They did good with keeping it clean. Friendly too. Still too many dogs. Sounded like an animal shelter. Only saw "2" people who picked up their poop. Most dogs off leashes around campground and lake trail. Its just a matter of time efore something happens. Maybe I am too good. I like everyone to follow the rules and show some common courtesy. I would revisit same site during dryer times.

Campground host was not very attentive they didn't even check us in. Mary who works for them Mon & toe checked us out the second day & was busy cleaning up the bathrooms & camping spots. She said they don't clean & leave the stuff for her to do when she is filling in. We have camped here before & the spot was nice & we had our own bathroom. I would check out the host as they suck.

The location is great. Close to the lake and a 1/4 walk to the store. The campground does not have paved road or paved parking in campsite. It can get really muddy during a storm. The hosts are friendly and kept the outhouses clean. The "CON" of the campground is dogs. There are a lot of dogs that have irresponsible parents. There were approximately 20 dogs, during my stay, for the 25 campsites. I did not see anyone picking up after their dogs. So, always look where you walk. Also, half of the pooch parents are letting them run. Chasing squirrels and whatever else was running. There was plenty of barking too. I have been camping in this campground for almost 30 years. It is getting bad with the number of dogs and inconsideration from their owners. I love doggies, but I don't love the nuisance from all of this. If the dog population does not bother you, it is great place to bring the kids to be able to hike down to the water and do some fishing or kayaking. It makes it nice that you don't have to drive and find a parking space near the lake.

Doug and Donna were the greatest camp hosts Ive ever had! They were friendly and helpful and went above and beyond to make my stay really comfortable. The lake is spectacular. Bald eagles, shooting stars. Amazing spot!

Love the little campground with close proximity to the lake! We felt very comfortable leaving our kayaks down by the lake at night. Everything was clean and well kept! Camp host very friendly!

The water coming out of the "drinking water" taps was brown and we didn't feel safe using it for even washing, so we had to keep buying water at the store. Sad that nothing was posted about it anywhere in the campground. The hosts were excellent and quiet time did happen at 10 pm which we appreciated.

Hosts were great. But...the heavy equipment woek being done in the campground area was horrible. Waking up at 530 am to thr beeping of the dump truck and other heavy equipment was not pleasant or restful. THERE SHOULD have been information posted regarding the work being done in the woods canyon area.

Always a great experience as I have been there several times and most recently with family. It has now become an annual outing. I really appreciate the cleanliness of the restrooms.

My family has been coming to Spillway for decades! We love it! Getting a reservation is difficult, as it seems wealthier folks reserve large blocks of campsites and dates. I scavenge the website and pick up the one and two-day leftovers. That said, we always enjoy our Spillway campouts.

My wife and I love spending time at Woods Canyon Lake! The drive is beautiful. The area is wonderful. The lake is incredible. The wildlife is abundant. The camping is fantastic! The only thing we didn't like this time was that the road around the Spillway campground is no longer paved. This causes a great deal of dust to kick up, when vehicles drive around the camp ground. Other than that, we had an incredible experience. You can see highlights from our experience in this short video:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pQ2EwbMR40U

Never a bad experience! Best campsites on woods canyon! Lake sites are surreal! But all sites are great too! Close proximity to trails and lake from all campsites! Camp hosts are Awsome! Keep things clean and arent in your business! But weve always had great camp hosts and weve been coming here for 20 plus years now! They need to rope off past day use tho to keep traffic down from outside! Love this campground for sure!!!

This busy campground was clean, tidy and well kept by the campground hosts. You will not find cleaner restrooms in a Federal, or State campground.That being said, our site...and many others were designed and laid out by buffon/idiots. We could not use our fire pit because is was located 4 feet from the tent/rv pad. No campfire camping is always a bummer, but when it is intentional...and left that way for years. it is criminal (or incompetant) neglect. Shame on you.This short campground loop is subject to lots of drive through traffic by non campers. Lots of day users (fishermen) use the nearby parking lot and dumpsters and cruise through on the narrow, one way road raising dust and often jamming the road. A sign restricting traffic to campers only may help with this nuisance.This campground is popular and often full. Given the available space, it should be tripled in size. Remembering that the people gathered together and created their government to make things better, not worse, it should have been done many years ago. Sadly, I am not hopeful.

@BranJen - Santa Clara, CA

I wanted to thank you for this site and especially for the notifications feature. Thanks to your site and my subscription I was able to book a campsite I've been annoyingly trying to book for 5 years unsuccessfully. So thank you.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
