We had a great two-day camping trip with five of us staying at Site 14, which was conveniently located near the restroom. The campsite host, Beth, was super nice and funny, and we appreciated her cleaning the restrooms at 6:30 a.m. sharp.We arrived on a Saturday when the campsite was full, and unfortunately, one camper had a generator running for about 30 minutes late at night, which was a bit annoying. However, by Sunday evening, we had the entire reserve side to ourselves, which was fantastic.The walk to the rim wasn't too difficult, and there are a couple of nice trails to explore. We all had Verizon and got one bar at the campsite and 2-3 bars closer to the rim. The short drive to Woods Canyon Lake was easy, and the $10 cash fee for the picnic area was reasonable for grilling and fishing. The on-site store was a lifesaver for any last-minute supplies.The only downside was the bees. There seemed to be a nest nearby, and while we didnt get stung, their swarming was quite annoying. The slight draft from the nearby restroom wasnt too bad, and we managed just fine.Overall, it was a great experience, and wed definitely camp here again, though Id probably choose a different site than 14 next time.

Great site for trailers...However, please note that the parking at this site is parallel only; perfect for those who have trouble backing up trailers. We opened our canopy toward the fire pit and table area. Site 14 gets a huge draft from the nearby outhouse though.

I had a great time at Mogollon Campground! The camp host was nice; the campground was clean and conveniently located to trails leading you to the Mogollon Rim. The campground is also close (about 2.5 miles) to Woods Canyon Lake, marina & store. Watch my video overview of the campground on my YouTube channel: https://youtu.be/e8URQDiLGKk?si=9QfPvDO9yZExAz_B

With the extra paving of the 300 road camping at the Mugan rim campsite is a lot like sleeping next to a highway.

Very happy with the site and I liked very much the parallel parking of RV that allowed it to have the door open thought's the camp fire and the bench. Very clean restrooms and area well maintained. The hosts were very friendly and easy to talk too.I definitely would camp again at Mogollon campground.

We exchanged for site 5 in the first come loop. Our experience was fairly hood. The issue is that almost all of the fist come sites on the outside of loop will FLOOD significantly wheneverthere is a hard rain (which we had on 2 days), especially in the table and firepit areas. These sites greatly need some crushed granite or similar materials to prevent flooding of the main use areas.Our hosts were pleasant and unobstrusive. Verizon signal was trace. Occasional (usually interrupted) calls and texts.A very nice paved hike along the rim plus another gravel trail (0.32 mi) to another viewpoint behing the bathroom.

This campground was wonderful and definitely smaller, but close enough to enjoy all the Woods Canyon Lake amenities. We also loved having access to the walking path to overlook the Rim.

We enjoy this particular campground. We chose this site for one of our camping adventures every year

Pros: The campsite was very easy to get to even in the dark. This was one of the only places I could reserve a single night on Memorial day weekend.The stars are beautiful at night.Cons:I had no cell service in the campgrounds.The other camp sites were very close, and kids in the other sites were constantly running through/around our site and shining lights across our site.The road ran right next to the campgrounds and dust from passing vehicles left a constant haze in the air.

The hosts were exceptional; very attentive. Labor Day Weekend so pretty noisy and lots of traffic in and out of our circle. NO water pump/faucet outside the restroom which is disappointing. All other rim campgrounds have this.

The campground is easy to find, the site was well marked and clean upon my arrival. The campground hosts came by soon after my arrival to introduce themselves and they were great. Bathrooms were clean and stocked with toilet paper. One of the best parts of this campground is its proximity to the Rim Lakes Vista Trail. It's paved (!) and a refreshing walk along the rim and through the forest. I recommend it for the views and shade. I look forward to my next trip there.

The campground is up on top of the Mogollon rim, so its just incredibly beautiful there. The camp hosts are just the nicest people. We had a very memorable time there and are excited to come back next year.

Sites on the outside of the loop are quite large and well-spaced. Hosts were very nice and facilities are well maintained.

Peaceful, clean campground where you can enjoy the pines and a campfire. It was easy for us to get our camping trailer parked and the camp host was helpful. A short walk on an easy path to get to beautiful views from the rim.

If you’re looking for peace and quiet this isn’t the place. The campsites are on top of each other and the campground is so close to the access road there’s always the sound of traffic. On the upside, the camp hosts were very pleasant and the views from the Rim were nice.
@PatJ9748890 · Camped on Sep 30, 2022 at Campsite #20
100 yards from a noisy, dusty dirt road with traffic all day, after dark, and before dawn. Ick.
@DebraD6943791 · Camped on Aug 30, 2022 at Campsite #18
Nice campground, but due to it being so close to the gravel/dirt Rim Road, it was very dusty and noisy, both day and night due to the heavy amount of traffic.

Our first outing to "The Rim" and it was most enjoyable. We spent Monday through Friday. We can see the advantage of being there during the week. One advantage of being retired you might say. Thanks for a good experience.

Our host was incredibly kind and had left out some firewood for us! He showed us some lovely photos he had taken in the area and was very welcoming. The campground was quiet and clean. I will be going back!

The information on recreation.gov falls pretty sort of describing these campsites. Parking is parallel parking and there is enough room, but this should be clearly stated as bigger RVs and travel trailers need to adjust how they park. The parking sites on the inner ring aren't very well defined, and we had to move lots of rocks that ring the sites so we wouldn't stumble over them going in and out of our trailer, and when we traveled back and forth to the local lakes for fishing and kayaking. Recreation.gov should also CLEARLY state that you have to pay to dump your trash, which is not typical of most campsites in Arizona. There is also RV dump station a few miles east near Woods Canyon, but it costs $7 to dump. This really isn't a huge deal, and there were attendants to make the process go smoothly with two separate pull-through sites to dump, but most people would agree that The nearest forest road had traffic on it literally 18 hours a day, and we had one or two dozen vehicles per hour on Friday and Saturday driving through our loop of the campground looking for spots to camp. The camp host did not put out signs that say "campground full" which is common practice for national forest campgrounds, and this could have at least cut the traffic in the campground a little bit. The traffic on Rim Road is fast, anywhere from 10-20 mph above the posted limit of 25 MPH. Don't expect a quiet campground until after about 9PM. Overall, this campground is a GREAT location with a paved rim trail that starts right in the campground with amazing views, and close proximity to both Woods Canyon and Willow Springs Lakes really is great, but this is probably why there are THOUSANDS of people camping, boating, hiking, ATV riding, etc. along this corridor between Payson and Heber. Not a horrible campground, but you just need to know what you are getting when you make a reservation in this campground or any in the immediate area.

@BranJen - Santa Clara, CA

I wanted to thank you for this site and especially for the notifications feature. Thanks to your site and my subscription I was able to book a campsite I've been annoyingly trying to book for 5 years unsuccessfully. So thank you.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
