Monte Sano State Park in Alabama offers campers a peaceful mountain escape just minutes from downtown Huntsville. The park features over 20 miles of hiking and biking trails, including scenic overlooks with sweeping views of the valley below. Campers can enjoy modern bathhouses, picnic areas, and a serene Japanese garden. Birdwatchers, stargazers, and nature lovers will find plenty to explore in this quiet retreat. Whether you’re looking for a weekend getaway or an extended stay, Monte Sano State Park has everything you need for a relaxing and memorable camping experience.

Monte Sano Campground is part of Monte Sano State Park in Alabama (just 25 min east of Huntsville, AL) with an elevation of 1,623 feet. There are a total of 101 campsites including 26 tent-only sites. The campground is open all year. 75 sites can accommodate RVs and trailers between 45 and 105 feet. All sites are currently reservable. Reservations can be booked up to 12 months in advance. Each site includes a picnic table and fire ring with grill. 15 sites have full hookups (electric, water and sewer). 60 sites have electric and water hookups. 3 sites have water hookups. Fees range from $18.00 to $55.00. Some amenities include shower, dump station, general store, picnic table, restroom, trash dumpster, flush toilets. Activities include biking, hiking trails, disc golf.
