We love Paradise Campground, especially the campsites along the river (#48 - #54), but really there is not a bad campsite at Paradise. Depending on the time you visit it can be bustling or quite. This visit was during October when it is less crowded, but we have also visited the area in July. The campground is very dog friendly as well. You really don't need to go anywhere if you don't want as we found it peaceful just to stay at our campsite and read books and play board games. Some fun things that we love to do when visiting the area are hiking and exploring. We have hiked the loop around Clear Lake (5.3 miles) starting at Clear Lake Resort, and also hiked to Proxy Falls (1.2 miles) located on the Old McKenzie Highway. Other hikes we did were to Sahalie and Koosah Falls. If you are in for an adventurous hike, then I would recommend hiking to the Blue Pool. One historical site we visited was Fish Lake. Once a bustling community back in the 1800's it is now used by the Forest Service. There are cabins and a display with chronological events about how Fish Lake Depot developed. This is a short 1/4 mile hike from the parking lot. If you are into hot springs, Cougar (Terwilliger) and Belknap Hot Springs are close by. For those who enjoy the water, I would recommend taking a rafting trip down the McKenzie River with Horse Creek Outfitters or renting boats or kayaks at Clear Lake. If you are tired of cooking, there are two excellent restaurants at McKenzie Bridge (Obsidian and McKenzie Station Pub). There is also a good restaurant in Rainbow (Takodas) that we have heard good reviews about.

We have stayed at Paradise numerous times over numerous years, these last few years Cam & Rich have made staying at paradise so much more enjoyable. There are things like speed bumps and power that could be addressed at the campground, but all in all we love love it there.

The best campsite in Oregon! Stayed here for two nights and felt so safe. Its absolutely beautiful and you are surrounded by incredible nature and the gorgeous river runs alongside it.

Wonderful campground! The sites are private and large, the hosts are extremely helpful, and the campground and bathrooms are clean. It's beautiful here and we intend to return.

Decent! The sites down in the 40s/50s river side loop are prettiest and most private. A few of those do have very fast moving water at them, so kids or pets use extreme caution. You probably know this- but I didn't- the photos this site uses are generic to the camp as a whole and don't reflect the campsite # itself... so don't be fooled into thinking you're getting a view when not. We booked 9 6 months in advance and that wasn't worth it! Plenty of same day sites not on the river that would have been equally fine. 9 has no privacy or river access. (Just a view to walk baxk to with steep rocks). Also if you have a dog, no good place to swim them at paradise or paradise boat ramp. too fast of water and no eddy.

Great campground right along the McKenzie, which will sing you to sleep at night. It's a bit messy due to several large trees which were dropped relatively recently. Most sites are pretty private, with lots of foliage.

Spectacular campground right along the McKenzie River. Clean, well-kept and friendly. Camp hosts Rich & Cam are hardworking, professional and welcoming. They obviously care very much because they put a lot of energy into making Paradise In Oregon a true gem.

My daughter and I love this site in Paradise campground....right on the McKenzie River. We've been coming back for over 10 years. It is very private and well kept up.

I love Paradise. The trees are amazing. Keep you cool and provide the best nap canopy. Sites along the river are best. The toilets are clean and flush! Wow! Close to so many activities along Hwy 126. This summer while we there smoke in the area was an issue and there were a lot of no shows in prime spots. This made me sad. This is a popular campground and hard to reserve along the river. I made mine 6 months in advance and felt lucky I got one. So to see better spots open for several days was a bummer. Oh well, we had a great time. Do everything in the area you can! All worth it: Proxy Falls, Blue Pool, Bigelow HS, Terwillerger HS , Belknap HS, you can even SUP at Blue river reservoir down the road.

We were able to setup a small card table with our camp chairs along the riverbank. We were in the shade for most of the day while playing cards and watching the river rafters float by. Overall, the spot was great for a large tent and a smaller tent. Park hosts were very gracious and accommodating.

Right on the river. Beautiful campsite and campground.

Amazing spot. Pit toilets arent what they used to be- you really need to just hold your breath the whole time. Brutal.

This park is fabulous. We were unable to get the same site 2 nites in a row, but the camp host helped us once we were there in moving to a location that was more suitable and available for 2 nites. So friendly.

My camping experience at Paradise campground was fabulous! Despite having people in the campgrounds on both sides of me, it was very quiet and peaceful. Most of the time, the sounds of the river, the wind through the trees, and bird song were all I heard. I hung my hammock between two trees and spent much of my time reading. It was heaven!
@ColleenV847349 · Camped on Jun 21, 2024 at Campsite #17
Absolutely beautiful campground with large sites under big old growth trees, many of which feel secluded because of the trees and space between. The pristine cold Mackenzie runs very swiftly along one side of the campground and there are access points for people who didnt get a campsite on the river. I like the riverside campsites the best but there are some very nice ones tucked into the shade of the big trees. Camping on the river you can watch groups of people go by in white water rafts, which I find entertaining. The river is loud and fast here, not a place for swimming and its hard to have a conversation right on the bank but its sure nice to sleep to. There are a few flush toilets but mostly vault toilets, all kept clean. There is good fresh water close to every campsite. Some of the huge, thick picnic tables are a bit worse for wear, we just put a plastic tablecloth on ours and it was fine. Be Bear/critter aware and put your food in the car. We forgot a bag of avocados and the entire thing disappeared overnight. I dont like to think about what would be strong enough to snatch the whole bag.All in all our favorite campground.

@BranJen - Santa Clara, CA

I wanted to thank you for this site and especially for the notifications feature. Thanks to your site and my subscription I was able to book a campsite I've been annoyingly trying to book for 5 years unsuccessfully. So thank you.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
