We reserve site number five and were disappointed and where it was located due to a lot of soft sand to drive over before reaching site and it was difficult to find Enjoyed our experience when they fellow camper allowed us to camp on the east side of his area We were not experienced at driving our vehicles out into the sand so we used our ATVs which we wanted to use anyway to ferry our equipment and tent to the site. We very much enjoyed watching other folks using their sand toys from our campsite, including us being able to go out on the beach and run our dog

We stayed at camp spot #2. This was a perfect spot for us! Hauling a 20' trailer behind our jeep and another friend had a jeep and there was plenty of room in the camp spot. For our first time here, we had a wonderful time! Only thing to watch out for were the mosquitos!! They were bad! the bathrooms at the staging area were clean and stocked. Being right on the sand trail was great! The people before us left alot of garbage, so we did have to clean up quite a bit of cans, bottles etc.. We plan on coming back every year!

When I got to my site there was tons of trash dumped in one of the corners of the site

We stayed at campsite 1 and absolutely loved it. Direct access to riding on the dunes and a quick 1/2 mile walk to the ocean. We drove an expedition and had no trouble accessing our site as others have complained about. Just do your research and you wont be disappointed. We prefer boon-docking so this campsite was more than we expected with gates that close from 10pm-6am, bathrooms with running water & flush toilets, plus the campground host is right outside the bathrooms which was about 1/4 mile or less from our site. It was quiet and clean but we also stayed Mon-Thurs. Would definitely stay here again!

We didnt even get to use our campsite after driving 3 hours to get there, and had to find and pay for another place for my family to stay the camp host has repeatedly told Rec.gov that the sand this time of the year is way to soft, and that people get stuck and he did not recommend even with a big 4x4 truck. So, Rec.gov knowingly rents these sites out and people loose money and time. So rude, and unprofessional.

Dont come here unless you like Mosquitos and loud dune buggies

Great place but please follow the rules to make it enjoyable for everyone. 5 vehicles and 20 people per site. Not 8 trailers and 40-50 people

No direction or map. Was not informed that it was a very long walk across sand to site. No way to drive car to site. Total rip off. Didn’t bother to try and stay there. Ended up at State Park down the road. Very poorly handled. I’m out $19 because of this program. Shame on you.

Unfortunately our vehicle got stuck in the sand trying to get to campsite 3. We had to get towed out. Roadside assistance didn't cover it because we were more than 3 car lengths from the pavement. $800 bill and still needed to find camping somewhere else. If you're going to camp here, make sure you have a vehicle that can handle driving in the sand!

A great camping location even for non biker, sandrail, OHV people. Also gives access to the shoreline and other beautiful spots. We have 4x4 camper so this is ideal dry camping place.

Trash left everywhere from previous campers, seems to get worse every year ☹️

Are spot was under water, tried to cancel it and the process was slow and difficult. Once I got it figured out, canceling the spot refunded me $0 dollars. We booked another spot, and continued are trip. Not very satisfied with my experience.

Awesome place, if camping with 5th wheel or trailer on the sand don’t try cheating make sure you reduce the tire pressure down to 10 lbs. everyone was respectful and really nice. We had a blast.😀😀

Made reservations over the phone for 3 people and one vehicle. Arrived as it was getting dark to learn that you cannot access without special 4WD sand vehicles. The host said that this happens all the time and he has advised “them” multiple times to make this clear on the web site and to the phone operators. They would not let us “camp” (not even just sleep in our van) in the parking lot. The area is very nice. We never saw our campsite. We stayed at the driftwood campground 30 minutes away and that was a good experience. We requested a refund but have not heard back yet.

If I could give 0 stars I would. It never said when we booked it all sites were access only by ATV or Dunebuggy or whatever. And so we spent over an hour trying to FIND the campisite no signs telling where the sites were or anything then my car in 4WD got stuck and I was stuck in the middle of nowhere miles always from the road with no service for 3 hours and had to get pulled out. And then couldn’t figure out how to get a refund. So we got the hell out of there and went to Thousand Trails campground and had a fantastic time. Worse camping experience of my life. Everyone we asked to help us was so rude and the “number” aka hotline that was in the email was a 2hour wait time for help absolutely atrocious and awful. Would never recommend this campground to anyone I know.

@BranJen - Santa Clara, CA

I wanted to thank you for this site and especially for the notifications feature. Thanks to your site and my subscription I was able to book a campsite I've been annoyingly trying to book for 5 years unsuccessfully. So thank you.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
