We love Council Grove Reservoir and camping there. It's got good fishing for several species and the lake isn't generally crowded. The campground is just down the road from the city and a short drive to Dairy Queen for an ice cream treat with the granddaughters and rest of the family. Hannah with the COE was very helpful with a question about the reservation system and discounted rates and she resolved our dilemma nicely.

Great spot overall! My only criticism is that it is mostly designed for an RV as the ground isnt entirely level for camping.

Nice quiet stay, even though it was Washunga Days in the town nearby. This is such a great location, with it being on the lake and near Council Grove. The campground was well kept and the staff kept an eye on things without being annoying. We stay here often.

Nice quiet little lake. Some cute stores in Council Grove. Hays House Restaurant is a great place for a meal out.

Spent a weekend at the group site. It was a cool wet weekend but the view is awesome and the trees protected us from the strong south wind. We hope to try it again with better weather. Really enjoy this campground as we stayed in one of the sites last year.

We really like the campground. Its well kept up & plenty of room for games & small gatherings with our group. This year it was a little unfortunate because of the weather, something that cant be helped. We left a day early because of storms but had one perfect day to go in town & hit up the shops then to have a fire that night.

The campsite was great. The utilities worked and we were in a beautiful location. There were some wasps that showed up. We did NOT cook outside, so we didn't have to deal with them. We were also there in April when there weren't many other campers, so it was very quiet. We didn't use the showers or the dump, so we can't comment on those.

Beautiful view with lots of snow geese and we even saw a bald eagle! It was absolutely amazing even on a kind of cold day and night that dipped into the 30s but it was still amazing!

A+ Core campground. Nice spacing between sites. No host present, but easy to check in. Did not use the bathrooms, but dump station was nice to have. Tall Grass Prairie is a must see, located about 1/2 hr to the south.

This is one of our favorite camping spots. The town has lots of history and you could easily spend an afternoon walking around reading the historical markers in town. While your out walking, visit the businesses on main street for a tasty dinner or a unique gift. When your finished sight seeing, come back to Richey Cove and relax in a clean, well shaded and relaxing environment. Love this campground!

All the sites are paved so easy to set up. Good shade!

There was no potable water available. Thankfully the neighbor in the campsite next to us was kind enough to let us hook to their hydrant. Had to stretch 275 feet of hose to reach our campers. Unfortunately for the camper farthest away our hoses were 15 feet to short. We talked to several rangers regarding the lack of water and they were aware but just haven't got around to fixing it. But the rangers had plenty of time making sure you followed all their other rules. Other than the lack of water, it was a decent group campsite.

Please trim the trees back on the road that goes through the campground at Richey Cove, in particular the ones on the way way that every camper has to use to exit the park. The trees could create an expensive situation with damage to camper roofs, air conditioners, windows, etc. You can barely maneuver through the circle and around the boats, jet skis, etc., parked halfway off the road without some potential damage. The limbs overhang way too far and need to be maintained. Thanks.

The website says water hookup, but there isn't. Otherwise a GREAT spot!

It was raining in the morning so we went to the tall grass prairie and did some shopping on Main Street. What a lovely community. We loved the camp ground. It was great having the beach right there.
@AnneR7760816 · Camped on Jun 9, 2023 at Campsite #4
We stayed at #3 and the ground where we stepped out of our trailer was slanted and pretty rocky. If you have kids, you may want to look for a flatter area. However, it worked out nice because it was directly across from the beach area.

@BranJen - Santa Clara, CA

I wanted to thank you for this site and especially for the notifications feature. Thanks to your site and my subscription I was able to book a campsite I've been annoyingly trying to book for 5 years unsuccessfully. So thank you.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
