Apple Valley, located in the Mojave Desert in Southern California, offers unique camping experiences with desert and mountain landscapes. Joshua Tree National Park, located to the southeast, provides camping amidst iconic Joshua trees with access to hiking, rock climbing, and stargazing. Mojave National Preserve, to the east, offers remote desert camping with opportunities for hiking and exploring the unique desert landscapes. Lake Arrowhead, located to the southwest, offers mountain camping with lakeside activities such as fishing, boating, and hiking. San Bernardino National Forest, to the south, provides several campgrounds surrounded by forested landscapes with hiking and wildlife watching. Cajon Pass, located nearby, offers camping along scenic mountain routes with hiking and views of the surrounding desert.

Mesa Campground is part of Silverwood Lake State Recreation Area in California (just 20 min south of Hesperia, CA) with an elevation of 3,455 feet. There are a total of 129 campsites. The campground is open all year. Sites can accommodate RVs and trailers up to 31 feet. All sites are currently reservable. Reservations can be booked up to 6 months in advance. 37 sites have electric and water hookups. Fees range from $45.00 to $50.00. Some amenities include shower, dump station, boat ramp, restroom, amphitheater, flush toilets. Activities include biking, boating, fishing, hiking trails, water skiing, floating sports.

Council Group Campground is located in the Mountaintop Ranger District, San Bernardino National Forest (31 min northeast of Yucaipa, CA) with an elevation of 6,293 feet. The site is normally open from mid March to the end of October. Prices start at $243.00 per night. Some amenities include amphitheater. Activities include fishing, hiking trails.
